General Comments:

Is absolutely a beautiful drive on long trips - so easy to handle (drives itself) - Quick overtaking speeds.

Very Roomy & extremely comfortable Cabin space & Huge Boot.

Heaps of luxury options all included including lovely Velour Upholstery.

Is a great looking vehicle without being overly big - looks extremely good with the right Mags!!

1990 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

A fun, reliable car

Faults:

1. Timing belt broke at 100,000 miles, the last owner didn't have it replaced at 70,000 miles like they should have done.

2. The alternator was replaced at around 130,000 miles.

3. The right rear brakes seized up at 140,000. Right and left side brakes replaced.

4. The entire exhaust (except for the cat. converter.) rusted through, the noise got real bad at around 140,000 miles so I had it looked at. The mechanic that did the repair said he was surprise.

5. The window regulators, clock, and power antenna have all caused problems, but they're common on this year Maxima and are minor issues.

General Comments:

This car acts more like a sports car than a sedan. Its fun to drive. It gets just over 20 mpg with mostly city driving, not bad for an engine designed in the early 80's for use in a sports car (Nissan 300ZX). I've had oil changes done every 3,000 miles since I bought the car, the sparg plugs were replaced (I used NKG plugs) along with the spark plug wires.

Summary:

Good engine over 180,000 miles, but lots of nerve racking problems with other components

Faults:

I too seem to have a problem with clogged fuel injectors. I had 2 replaced about a year ago at a cost of $500 and I now have the same problem again. Ruff idle & hesitation at all speeds. My speedometer works only some times. The Bowes Radio makes loud screeching noises. The cassette player doesn't work, The antenna only goes half way down, The windshield is very pitted, The moon roof came off it's track. I dumped over $5,000 in repairs in 11 years. I think I'll try a Honda or Toyota next.

The fuel injector problem is a real pain!!

General Comments:

A Great car, fast and handles great!

I got mine at a young age pretty much, the car will be 16 years old this year and has only done 154,000 KILOMETERS!! God bless ex company cars ;)

Can be thirsty so I'm always forking out money for fuel on this bad boy!

Other than the costs involved with this car, Its great value for money for its styling and level of luxury.

Last, but not least, this thing is a DEFINITE chick magnet, especially when you dropped it on 18" chrome rims with a dark window tint ;)

Summary:

GREAT first car and VERY reliable

Faults:

Driver side power window would go down, but I had to manually pull it up. Others worked fine, but got stuck every once in a while when it rained. Power antnena broke. Clock stopped working (i had to bang on it to get it to come on). Needed new alternator. Besides that, just had to replace tires and that's about it. Repairs were cheap since I bought the parts (clock, antenna, power window regulator) at a junk yard.

General Comments:

I bought the car for $1,800...I beat the crap out of this car and it still ran like a tank. After I was rear ended and side swiped in a 2 month span I didn't feel like repairing the car or putting any money into it. I drove it without a oil change for over 20K miles and it still ran good. One of the best investments I ever made. Great for a first car. Steering was good, but needed alignment. Very roomy and dependable. I drive a prelude now and I put more time and money in that car in a month than I ever did with the maxima... If you want a car for a very low price then GET A MAXIMA!!! Don't worry about high mileage because these cars can last well over 200,000 miles without any serious mechanical problems. A+++++

I am glad that someone agrees with me about how these cars can run forever. These cars are so trustworthy that I sold my 1990 Lincoln Mark VII for it.
