1995 Nissan Maxima GLE 3.0 DOHC from North America

Summary:

Stomp the gas.. go real fast..

Faults:

Front brake caliper seals caused a pulsing and rhythmic noise in the front suspension @ 90,000 miles. This was VERY hard to get properly diagnosed.

Front CV axle boot cracked @ 95,000 miles.

A/C Compressor bearing went at 130,000. This one hurt, it is an $800 repair.

General Comments:

This is an extremely dependable car.

Fun to drive.

I would buy another one.

Get the transmission filter changed every 30,000 miles if you don't want to spend the money to replace it.

1995 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0L from North America

Summary:

Fun to drive with few hassles, just like it ought to be!

Faults:

Replaced left rear window motor unit because internal rubber coupling failed.

Replaced rear O2 sensor at the catalytic converter to eliminate repeated check engine faults (code 77)

Replaced right rear window regulator when plastic guides failed.

Replaced front brakes at 76000, rear is still fine.

Minor issue with the rubber pad for driver's left foot coming off carpeting and no one can get it to stay attached.

Heat and A/C seem weak when temperatures are extreme, but they work okay.

Tranny shifts are a little rough under high load, but fine at in-town speed.

General Comments:

A well-designed package except the beam suspension in rear. Lots of refinement otherwise.

The engine is amazing.

Maintenance has not been bad, but repair parts are expensive.

Changing oil on this series is far easier than my old 85 Max, but it can make a mess by dropping oil along the frame and control arm when removing the filter. It would be easier if they hadn't put some wiring in the way too. All-in-all, still much easier than a Honda.

Interior has held up well for 8+ years.

Looking forward to getting a 2005 model when they come out!

1995 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

Sportier than most sports cars

Faults:

No major problems, even at 123,000 miles! Only routine maintenance.

General Comments:

The first thing I noticed about this car was the beautiful, sporty styling. This is a family car? Certainly could have fooled me.

The engine is absolutely incredible. The acceleration is immediate and powerful. On the highway, the car effortlessly and quietly speeds to and cruises at 65.

The sporty suspension is a little too stiff on rough roads, but on the same token the car is glued to the road on turns. It handles like a formula-1 racer.

A very spartan interior. Most accurately described as a cockpit. Not exceptionally comfortable, but the heads up display and interfaces are perfectly designed.

Nothing, just routine maintenance over the years.

1995 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0 L from North America

Summary:

Decent car overall

Faults:

Electrical system is tempremental.

Inside dome light doesn't work.

Recall on the engine service light, Nissan just resets it then it comes back on, I just ignore it, tired of dealing with it.

General Comments:

Decent car, rear suspension (or lack thereof) is an issue if you are performance minded.

Not really a 4 door family sporty car as Nissan claimed.

Engine and autobox are flawless & has good power for what it is.

Summary:

A definite family performance bargain!

Faults:

Rock damage to front fog light. So far nothing else.

General Comments:

GREAT CAR! I would recommend this car to anyone.

Uses no oil, fuel mileage great. Averaged 28 mpg on a 850 mile trip while traveling at an average speed of 91 mph.

Leg support in seats could have been improved, but overall comfort is great.

1995 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0 liter V6 from North America

Faults:

Only an oxygen sensor at 16K.

General Comments:

A well-made sedan that packs a lot of performance for the money spent, especially with the firmer SE suspension and 5-speed manual. Extremely reliable and fun to drive. This car is very fast and the engine is smooth. It is a little loud in the cabin on rough roads.
