1991 Nissan Pintara 2 Litre 2.0 Litre from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Too clever (double spark system) and too stupid. A Lemon

Faults:

Many things. The transmission leaked like a sieve. The electric radiator cooling fans were faulty and unbalanced when they ran.

The car eventually overheated and cooked the head. I was fortunate enough to offload it without too much pain.

Power steering is too powerful and throws the car around in cornering.

General Comments:

I think the Pintara is a Lemon and I would warn others away from it. This Pintara was certainly a Lemon and it would take an extremely huge effort before I am convinced to buy another Nissan.

I had assumed that Nissan were in a similar class as Toyota when it came to long term reliability and quality construction. Wrong.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I have a Nissan Pintara and I think it is the best. It is a 4 Cylinder Skyline. It is faster than a Ford EF.

In Australia, the Pintara badge covers several different and distinct models of car, of which the H30 and H31 Skylines are just two. It also covers several different models of Bluebird, including the TRX and ARX models.

Parts are readily available for this vehicle on eBay. If you know a bit, you can do a lot yourself.

They're a great car during the colder months of driving (Orange NSW). I don't rely on it too much in the hotter months of the year, but have done many interstate trips in the cooler months or at night time - it's been very reliable. Like anything - you treat it with respect, it will go forever.

I have bought a 91 Pintara Executive with 56000kms. Drives great, but some comments make me want to sell it. Are these cars good or not? Can someone please help?

My Nissan Pintara is 21 years old, and has done just over 215,000km. It has been serviced regularly and has been a great, reliable car. Air conditioning system is cactus, but no major problems at all, and I have owned it for the past 15 years. I love my Pintara Executive Auto sedan.

I thought they discontinued the twin fire spark system in 1988? I had a 1988 2.0 EXE... The spark system was the worst invention ever put into a Nissan.
