1992 Nissan Sentra XE 1.6L., 4 cylinder., DOHC, 16v from North America

Summary:

This car is one of the best cars ever made in terms of fuel economy and car performance

Faults:

The air conditioning system completely blew out two-hundred miles after I got it, and it was costly to fix.

The clutch wore out, the previous owner told me, around 75,000 miles and it was replaced.

Other than regular upkeep, good car.

General Comments:

This is my second Nissan Sentra. I have been overwhelmingly pleased with the Nissan Sentra cars.

With the standard suspension system it handles well, the rack-n-pinion steering system with power steering is very responsive.

The best thing is the economy of the car. I now get 33 to 35 miles to the gallon in city and 35 to 40 on the freeway. With only 10.5 gallon fuel tank, I get 350 to 400 miles a tank.

1992 Nissan Sentra SE 1.6L DOHC from North America

Summary:

An excellent dependable sporty compact car

Faults:

When I first recieved the car from my parents the only thing that was the worst of my problems was the clutch went bad. When that was replaced I come now to find that the rear main seal is leaking oil on the flywheel and the clutch causing it to slip. Now I will have to replace the seal and the clutch once again.

The window cranks have broken off not to long ago, but that is not to major to stress over.

General Comments:

This car is not a sports car, but you can put a little add-ons here and there to make is a sporty little compact, with excellent handling.

With the excellent gas mileage it gets, I plan on holding onto this car for a little while.

I have had very little to barely any problems with this car and would recommend it to teens like myself as a first reliable car.

However I wish there was just a tab bit more room in the back to bring along more friends due to the lack of rear leg room.

1992 Nissan Sentra EX 1.6 from North America

Summary:

Reliable, cheap, easy to maintain, fun to restore-a great bargain with modest style!

Faults:

Paint is very oxidized and overcoat enamel is absent in large areas.

Gears, on rare occasion, slip into neutral.

Car stalls on sharp left turns.

Trunk leaks in rain causing mildew damage to trunk board-unable to locate leak.

General Comments:

Car is not very roomy and seats five in cramped style.

Excellent gas mileage.

Very peppy for a four cylinder/1.6 liter.

Inexpensive to repair and relatively easy to maintain.

Reliable and cheap transportation.

Will replace it after it is restored, but a lot of fun for the time being.

1992 Nissan Sentra XE from North America

Summary:

Fun car!

Faults:

The A/C is failed completely, nothing comes out but hot air. That happened before I got it, though.

There was a leak in the trunk over the right tail light, the leak was also there before I bought it, but it didn't get too bad until I owned it. Every time it rained, it filled with water. It ended up getting really moldy and smelly. I had to take the carpet out and it is now replaced with a cardboard box.

General Comments:

It's really fun to drive, and really easy handling too, takes corners beautifully. I only drove automatics before, but as my first car, I've now fallen in love with standards due to my Nissan.

I bought my 1992 Nissan Sentra XE in 2000 for $1000 from a friend of mine.

The car was neglected, but preserved, and the condition of the exterior/superficiality of it is as follows:

The paint is oxidized to the point that the actual enamel is chipping and absent in large areas.

The body has a few minor dings.

The interior is in good condition.

There is a crack in the windshield.

The trunk leaks in rain and the leak has not yet been found (subsequently causing mildew, mold, and deterioration of the trunk board).

There is calcium build-up on the windows which I have been unable to remove with stripping materials.

In defense of the internals/engine of the ten year old Nissan, the condition is as follows:

Original hoses are in place, clean, and in excellent condition ("Nissan" is still quite visible in white print).

Air conditioning works well, but could benefit from a recharge.

Transmission in good condition.

Responds very well to full tune-up (runs like a champ).

Rides smooth and quietly despite it's light frame, body, and construction.

Gets excellent gas mileage.

I have made very few and minor changes and repairs, but am slowly restoring the car to the condition that would do it justice. I have had many inquiries from many people trying to talk me into selling it to them, but I would like to fix it up first. The only thing I have done was replaced and upgraded the stereo system/speakers, given it a tune-up and oil change, adjusted the clutch to its correct position, and given it the TLC it needed. The bottom line is that Nissan made a very good, affordable, reliable, and "user friendly" automobile when they made the 1992 Nissan Sentra XE. I would highly recommend this car to anyone interested in purchasing one.
