1993 Nissan Sentra E 1.6 from North America
Summary:
Fuel-efficient car you just CAN'T kill!
Faults:
C/V joints went out at 130,000 miles. Passenger-side C/V joint went out again at 195,000 miles. These were refreshingly easy to replace (less than 2 hours for both).
Struts went out at 170,000 miles, but are fairly easy to replace.
5th gear on transmission went out around 175,000 miles, but still runs fine with just four gears. :)
Head liner dropped at 180,000 miles.
Clutch cable snapped at 140,000 miles and again at 180,000. Suspect the whole clutch assembly needs replacing, but we are lazy. :)
General Comments:
This car was used as a commuter car for my wife. She drove 180 miles to school and back for four years and never had the car leave her stranded except for one time when the clutch cable broke. Overall, this car has been the most dependable car we have owned and with the least amount of maintenance. You just can't beat a car you jump in and drive to over 210,000 miles at 35+ miles/gallon dependably.
Our poor Nissan has finally bitten the dust (something about the fuel system I believe) and is just no longer worth repairing. Absolutely no regrets or complaints and would highly recommend the Sentra line for anyone wanting fuel-efficient, econo-box travel.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
