1996 Nissan Sentra GXE 119 HP 4 Cylinder from North America

Summary:

Until I see otherwise, I will continue to buy Nissan

Faults:

Alternator failed and had to be replaced.

General Comments:

I am so pleased with this car and expect that I will get many more years and miles out of it.

It has been very reliable; only breaking down once in 75,000 miles due to a failed alternator.

Manual transmission adds level of power and control over the car.

And to think I almost bought a Dodge Neon instead.

1996 Nissan Sentra GXE 1.6L from North America

Summary:

Great transportation

Faults:

The gas gauge doesn't always read correctly (it has an empty tank warning light on the dash).

The original valve stems in the tires are too short.

Other than that, this car just always runs great.

General Comments:

If you are willing to accept modest power in return for great gas mileage, this car is the tops.

I wish it had a softer ride.

1996 Nissan Sentra GXE 1.6 from North America

Summary:

Almost perfect!

Faults:

A valve in the fuel system need replacement at 50,000 miles.

General Comments:

My 1996 Nissan Sentra is absolutely awesome! Granted it may not be the most handsome car on the block or have the razor sharp handling and gutsy acceleration of a sporty car, but hey, this is an economy car and the best I have ever ownen. I will always stick with a Nissan!

Is it the EGR valve that had to be replaced?

I have a 96 Sentra too and I have 43,000 miles on it. One fine day the car just would not start and I took it to the dealer. It took them about 3 days to figure out that the EGR valve was worn out. Just want to know if this wear is normal for the mileage I have on the car.

Thanks.

My 1996 Nissan Sentra's cylinders flood when parked downhill at any angle! Is this normal? I have to manually drain them with a hydrometer, clean the plugs and try to start it again. Also my automatic shifter button came off. Repair kit was $15.00. Now my driver side visor is broken. Then tentioning device inside the visor gave way. I quess that's way they call them economy cars. Next time I'll buy a truck!

The tires are bad stuff and the paint is bad too.

General Comments:

A very good car in general, a good motor, a simple interior at a low price.

1996 Nissan Sentra EXi 1.5 petrol from Singapore

Faults:

3 years have passed and nothing has gone wrong.

General Comments:

Good performance, relaxed cruising but VERY boring to drive. Very economical. Ride and handling pretty average - car is and feels light, engine noise OK but noise is not nice to the ear.

Interior trim looks and feels cheap.

Cheap to own, very reliable but YAWN!

1996 Nissan Sentra GLE 1.6 DOHC 16-valve from North America

General Comments:

A 2.0 liter engine should be available for customers. Other than not enough power and torque, this car is very good though.
