2004 Nissan Sentra Spec V SE-R from North America

Summary:

Constantly breaking down and falling apart

Faults:

I've only had it for 9 months...

- Needed new engine

- Flex joint exhaust ripped

- Power steering hose needed to be replaced

General Comments:

At first I loved it, now it is nothing but a money pit. Every time I fix it something else breaks.

2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R SPEC-V 2.5L from North America

Summary:

The total package that pleases all desires

Faults:

I have had to weld an exhaust bracket back on, but for that, nothing else; I look forward to a clean bill.

General Comments:

I have to agree with the general comments on this site; this is the best bang for your buck.

My only complaint about it is that they forgot to put a lock for reverse, and as a commuter I don't use all the gears all the time, and as a result I've popped it into reverse by mistake.

The car is not limited in a straight line, but once thrown into a corner, an independent rear suspension would be a nice feature.

The power is endless, as is the selection of gears, and being able to play with the big boys without the big boy price tag is always a benefit.

Good on you Nissan, for the package my ears are still bleeding from that Rockford sound system.

In closing, it is great as a commuter, track car, and general family car, and receives top marks.

2004 Nissan Sentra S 2.5 from North America

Summary:

Fun car to drive, but not worth the headaches

Faults:

The first week I had it, the paint started to bubble on the back quarter panel.

The first 3 months I had it, the trunk leaked 2 FEET of water!!! The dealer did nothing but replace the cardboard that lays over the spare tire. The only reason I found the water was because I wanted to check the pressure of the spare (needless to say I wasn't using my trunk very often).

My CD player ate a CD at about 15,000 miles and it took 3 weeks for the new CD player to get in. (p.s. I NEVER got the CD back that they promised me).

I went in for the heat sensor recall and it took 5 HOURS! Came to find out just about a month ago they FORGOT to set part of my computer, so I have been driving for about a year and a half with only half a working computer.

My rotors warp after only 500 miles after being replaced.

I have a squealing when my car is running.

And recently I have had starting issues and stalling issues. My car won't start when it is HOT (cold starts are fine). The engine floods at the blink of an eye. When I wrote IN DETAIL what was going on (when it was stalling, when it wouldn't start), the dealers treated me like I was on drugs and going crazy. $200 later they told me that I had a leaky crank sensor and that MAY solve my "hard starting". The part was NEVER ordered, then it was LOST, and finally it got to the dealer... BUT no one ever called me about it. Thank God I was one of those customers that called once a week. $200 and a headache later I thought my car was fixed.

It seemed to be fixed... until the next day. The problem went back to the way it was. I can't come home from work, let the dog out, and go to the gym because my car won't start. When I talked to the dealer again, they told me that I should replace ALL of the fuel injectors AND the fuel pump - but that probably wouldn't fix everything that is going wrong. GREAT! Needless to say, I am looking for a different car. I am tired of being jerked around!

General Comments:

This car drives like a champ, handles like no other car in its class, is fast, has pep, has great sound proofing from the outside, and rides moderately well (MUCH better than the 2004 Civic I was going to get).

However, it is so finicky about starting that the best ride in the world wouldn't even be worth it. I am scared to go a long distance from home because what if I try to start it and it won't start back up again. Because it's won't turn over when it cranks, I am almost positive I will need a new starter in a year or two.

I also have the same problems.

My car squeals so loudly from the day I got it. You cannot hear anything outside when it's running.

It ate a CD at 50,000 miles and a radio station preset broke - I think mine lasted longer than others.

My trunk doesn't leak, but every time it's humid, it sticks shut.

The reason your car stalls and will not start is it has fuel pump problems. I am on my third one after 7 years. The dealer took several visits to figure it out. Obviously, this car has fuel pump issues. That is why it won't kick over to start. I too, thought it was the heat causing it -- it's not -- just the fuel pump starting to break. I think it is ridiculous that it keeps breaking and all the money it costs me to fix it.

It seems like the radio and CD broke in numerous cars. The car feels every bump in the road from day one. My glove box rattles so bad while driving that I want to glue it shut... so annoying!

The car does ride nice once the fuel pump issues have been resolved.
