2001 Nissan Skyline 300GT 3.0L HV35 from Australia and New Zealand
Summary:
Love it
Faults:
6 months after buying I noticed some crackling noise, very similar to FWD CV joint faulty, even though the car is rear wheel drive. The noise was diagnosed as variable valve. That meant that they had to open the engine up. Very lucky that I bought a car warranty from the direct importer. Got that repaired under warranty and also got the timing chain replaced at my own cost.
Notice a drop in performance (surprisingly - new chain); maybe the Japanese got it tuned up.
Last year while replacing a brake pad, I noticed one of the valves was stuck (sorry, don't know what the exact term is, I think it is called the guide pin or lock pin with a boot). After a few hammer bangs and grease, it works fine now.
Driver's seat leather is ripping now, showing its age now.
General Comments:
It does have good grunt / horse power when needed.
It does almost 10L / 100km and I am happy with this as the car is an old (2001) 3L with almost 190KW.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
