1996 Oldsmobile Bravada 4.3L V6 Vortec from North America
Summary:
Money Pit
Faults:
Well, to put it simply, this car is an absolute money pit. I bought the car in Nov. 2004 with under 80,000 miles on it. First, I had my radiator flushed soon after it was purchased and there was a brown clay like substance in it. The mechanic said it also had sealer in it. After a fairly good winter with the car, the big problems started in the summer of 2005. As soon as the temperature outside got warmer, so did the temperature of the car. It would overheat from time to time and constantly leak antifreeze/water. Everytime we used the car, the overflow had to be refilled. Anyway, the next problem was ball joints. After that, the front drive shaft had to be replaced. That was a joy. Then, I replaced the clutch fan and thermostat to stop the overheating. That did not work. The alternator also had to be replaced twice. I also needed the rear driveshaft to be replaced and the CV joints. Before I got the chance to replace them, the car pretty much died. It overheated one day and stalled a couple of times only to find out that the oil was mixing with water. That was the end for me. And now it sits in my driveway (it was towed home), where it will stay until it is taken away or sold (for parts). By the way, it looks great.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No
