2000 Oldsmobile Bravada 4.3 Vortec V6 from North America

Summary:

Absolute garbage!

Faults:

Despite having taken excellent care of this vehicle, it has been a continual issue from the start.

Fuel economy is horrible.

The 4.3 is a good engine, but mine seemed moody depending on the day.

All 4 calipers have been replaced between 110,000 and 120,000 miles.

Goes through a distributor cap on average once every 4 months; I'm on the 5th one now.

Differential cover began leaking at 105,000.

Leaf spring shackles rotted out at 105,000.

AWD has NEVER worked.

Sunroof is off track and has been since the first week I bought it.

Both front wheel hubs at 120,000.

Horrible interior quality.

Brake lines at 140,000.

Despite always being kept washed and waxed, keeping the rust at bay has been a losing battle.

And now at 151,000, the transmission seems to be going, which will be the final nail on the coffin.

General Comments:

In all a horrible demonstration of GM quality.

In all fairness though, from what I've gathered this was a lease vehicle that belonged to a soccer mom in upstate NY prior to falling into my hands, so I highly doubt it was well maintained before coming to my possession.

2000 Oldsmobile Bravada from North America

Faults:

All wheel drive doesn't work, constantly putting brakes and rotors on.

Have replaced fuel pump, have replaced door springs and had to replace window switch, heater has been replaced.

After I bought this vehicle, I found out it was titled as a lemon. The vehicle is a real piece of junk and because it is titled as a lemon; no one will take it as a trade-in.

2000 Oldsmobile Bravada 4.3 liter 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Good car if you know how to do the upkeep

Faults:

Although I have enjoyed the smooth ride and the size of the Bravada, I have had many problems with it.

The first problem was not any fault of the vehicle itself; I was rear-ended badly. The car was in the shop for two weeks while the rear end was rebuilt.

Approximately 6 months later, I was unable to release the key from the ignition. I had to park my car at night with the doors unlocked and the key in it. It was diagnosed as having the two rods that run under the shift lever cracked during the accident and over time severed. These two levers apparently control whether or not the key disengages.

I got caught in a "semi-flood" -- not high enough to wash me out, but strong enough that it apparently ruptured my fuel line and pump. Had to have that replaced.

Had continued battery problems; was finally told that the battery I had purchased was too small for the engine -- no battery problems since then. However, my SUV now feels like a truck rather than the smooth car it felt like before.

Found a puddle of coolant under my car: the intake manifold/gasket had to be replaced.

The serpentine belt had to be replaced.

I've been told that the steering needs work, and the brakes need to be replaced.

As of last night, my car now makes a droning sound like an alien ship from a '60's flick, when the car is in gear and my foot is on the brake or it's at idle. It does not make this sound when depressing the accelerator. Any suggestions on this one?

The car is paid off and I do like it, I'd rather not have to try to come up with the money to buy a new one.

2000 Oldsmobile Bravada 4.3 vortex from North America

Summary:

My Bravada is great on long trips, and pulls over 3200 lbs of trailer weight

Faults:

The stock replacement shocks seem to wear out easy in less than one year.

The hood latch keeps sticking even after replacing.

Rear seats wear out.

The switch on the side of the seats quit working.

General Comments:

Rear seats have no room or leg room, and are not comfortable.

This SUV runs and has good pulling power.
