I have seen at least half a dozen of those converted Celebrity convertibles, most of them in pretty sorry shape. I doubt that only 33 were made--where did you get that figure?

11th Nov 2004, 08:37

I don't doubt it at all. I'm the author of the above review for the Ciera Convertible, and they only built 54 of those, in '86.

They did over more of them in the previous two years, so maybe the reason you've seen as many as you say you have is because you've spotted cars spanning over the various model runs. He said they made 33 in '86, for that one model year. That doesn't include the cars from the previous two years.

It's kind of sad that the ones you've seen are in the shape they're in. People just don't realize what they have, I guess. I was lucky enough to find my Ciera drop top in great shape, because the owner knew what he had.

Greeting,

I own one of the 33 1986 Celebrity convertibles. I have full documentation on mine and documentation from the factory on how many celebs, buicks, olds, and cougars they built. I have factory literature and information on the company in Fl. that bought all of the spare parts for these cars.

My car was used by Pres. Clinton in parades here in Arkansas when he was governor.

My car is in great shape and is fun to drive when the weather is good.

We own two Olds Cutlass Ciera Convertibles. One is from 1984 and one is a pace car from the Calai 500. Does anyone know how many 1984's were made by Hess and Eisenhardt. We have been told 125 and then 200 something. You can contact us at impa1aqueen@yahoo.com... we also have a 64 Impala SS Convertible among other vehicles... thanks for your time.

We are the original owners of a 1985 Cutlass Ciera convertible Hess & Eisenhardt conversion. It was sold to us as one of nineteen parade cars, from the Indianapolis 500. Regrettably, we were required to use the car as a driver until 1997. Since then it has been garaged. With nearly 100K miles and having been in two minor scrapes, it is ready for a total rehab. The top hydraulics are dead and for several years we had continuing trouble with fan run-on after shut off and the engine running hot. Numerous thermostats and radiator work did not last for long. We haven't decided whether to restore or let go of this car with many fun memories. Contact: bl_wagner@yahoo.com.

I have been studying these convertibles for many years. If you have any questions about them, contact me at kcdesoto1@hotmail.com. I am assembling more data, so please contact me if you own a coach convertible like the ones in this discussion.

I am always looking for more info, so if you have any old documentation or knowledge to share, I would also appreciate it. Thanks! Let me know if I can help.

I have a 1985 Olds Cutlass Ciera Conv 500 Festival car. There were only 33 made for the 500 Festival. Indy drivers used them, and also the festival rep. The pace car was not a Ciera. I was told that only 2 pace cars were made in 1985, and they cut the top off and did not make it a convertible, it had no top and no VIN number. There were other convertibles made in 85, you just go to a dealer and pay 8,000 more to have it made. My 85 is in A1 shape. E mail is aceriggin1@embarqmail.com

Also it has the 500 Indy logo on both front fenders.

Hello,

I have a 1985 Olds Ciera convertible, as discussed in the above comments. It has 57K, all original miles. Body is not in great condition. I am one of those that did not know what I had. Convertible top has been replaced. Any ideas what it is worth? Thanks.

I just purchased a 85 Olds Ciera Hess and Earnhardt convertible. It has the Indy 500 pace car graphics as well. I understand only 16 were made as parade cars for the Indianapolis 500 parade since Oldsmobile was involved with the race.

I own a 1985 H&E Buick Century Convertible. Mine has the MPFI V6 231 engine and is still the only one I have found with that engine as original equipment. Would love any further info on A-Body verts by Hess and Eisenhardt. Got some of the original H&E paperwork that came with the car.

11th Jul 2011, 11:09

Would you happen to know from what car Hess and Eisenhardt took the folding top frame to make the Olds Ciera conversion? I have a 1985 Ciera convertible with a broken part and need to find a replacement. You may contact me directly at leebeckman@aol.com

Thank you.

Did you just get that car? Because I saw that one on the net and called that guy, several times; finally got through and he said it was gone! His company was called Just Buicks or Buicks unlimited or something like that? Anyway, at the dealer you ordered the car just how you wanted it equipped, and what engine came with that trim level, that's what you got. I think most were vin code (X) 2.8 2BBL carburetor. Also would you be interested in sending copies of any paperwork regarding these A-body verts? I would love to see them. Email me direct @ fbztpr@gmail.com. (I have an '86 Ciera convertible).

Many convertible top companies have parts for these cars. When searching, be sure to look for top parts for Chevy Celebrity, Buick Century, Pontiac 6000, as well as the Olds Cutlass Ciera.
