If you had read the review more closely, you would have noted that the reviewer sold or traded the car 30 years ago, just five years after buying it.

Intelligent, well-written review.

Highly unlikely if the car was from Arizona. But the review doesn't say.

I made the comment that I would buy a car from Arizona as it’s likely rust free from that area of the country. Doesn’t rain there all the time. Not that it was this car. So the odds of me buying the review car mentioned is zero.

I also always check to see if the seller and driver's license matched to the title are one and the same. Then negotiate based on condition and mileage. If it’s highly desirable, I often pay the seller's asking price.

I have been buying from a new car dealer that does 94% of the business via the Internet. I traded a car in that I have no idea where it is going in the USA. Many buyers require a loan and it’s often easier to just trade a higher end one in. Certainly not this vehicle; the price alone indicates it’s “rough” and rust that it’s not from Az. Some people will actually restore vehicles like this with a low initial outlay. And fix up as budget allows, often taking considerable time to do. I learned as a young guy how to do body work, spot weld etc on a large 4WD Blazer that I could not hurt any further than it was. It was loaded with rust. Chrome was still good. Bought most panels, rockers and floor repairs. It gave some great experience. Lot of personal hours in it. And painted it black; the worst color to choose as it would show any flaws. This vehicle could do the same for a new guy too.

Anyway, best of luck, the buyer may make it a decent vehicle again.

"Certainly not this vehicle; the price alone indicates its "rough""???

Without going way off topic, can you point out where the author of the review "indicated" the price they paid? I can't seem to find it.

10th Oct 2019, 22:18

Seeing how the reviewer bought it brand new, they more than likely paid around ten grand which was the MSRP for the average Cutlass Ciera in 1983.

However I do understand your point; the price they paid, nor the car being in rough shape is not mentioned anywhere in the review.

Not sure where comment 11:10 is trying to go with this.

10th Oct 2019, 22:59

16:10 you overdrive the point, dissecting every review for any flaw.

It happens a lot on here unfortunately. I once wrote on this site a fair couple of reviews about cars I had for over a 15 year period. I was attacked in the comment section for not listing all the cars "faults" over 15 years, which would have been mostly wear and tear and some items I would obviously have not remembered! (I only mentioned any major faults/breakdowns) I gave the cars a fair 8/10 for reliability but was accused of bias, and being a "fanboy" of a certain brand, when my reviews were far from any of that, just a good honest write up of my experience.

Gentlemen, the points so far I think have been acknowledged on this particular comment section. The site even states minor inconsistencies in reviews are not worth starting a raging debate over.

There are recent comments about both Arizona cars being rust-free, and purchase of rough beater cars, on an International Scout review here. 11:10 was presumably the author of the Arizona cars comments on that review and intended to put this comment on that review as well, but put it on this Cutlass review BY MISTAKE.

12th Oct 2019, 23:11

And then there are those reviews that get attacked because the author is posting about a vehicle a family member owns or a vehicle that they received from a friend or family. Even though they may know the entire history, some comments act as if it's a mortal sin.

You're so right. My 8th grade school teacher had a 1969 Dodge Coronet that she bought new. I got to ride in it once -- 49 years ago, thus, I am going to post a review of it...

13th Oct 2019, 20:56

Doesn't appear to be a mistake. They originally replied to 21:09 who was obviously mimicking the rust comment from the Scout review. Then after that 11:10 evidentiary saw another chance to reply with the same restoration comments that they post time and time again. And they also distinctly stated they wouldn't own the car on review. Not that it's a bad car. These Cutlass Ciera's actually had a good reputation. IMO.

14th Oct 2019, 18:09

So you're going to post a review from when you were in 8th grade, when you were roughly 14 years old 49 years ago, and still remember when your teacher bought and sold the car, the mileage when purchased and sold, comfort levels, running costs, and things that went wrong with the car?

Wow! I can't wait to read the review when you post it.

15th Oct 2019, 03:48

OK, I can see if you post a review on a family member car from 5, 10, 15 years ago, but a former teacher from almost 50 years ago? Sensing just a little sarcasm here.
