Hey- I own a '94 convertible with under 70k. It does have the 3.4 DOHC and is a pleasure to drive. I don't see why the DOHC is so bad. Just make sure you get the timing belt checked every once in a while. It has just enough power at 210 horse and 215 ft. lbs. of torque. It isn't as fun to drive without all that power. I got a '94 because of the dash design, the steering wheel design, and the rear buckets (which don't come with the 3.1 or the '95). I agree with all owners of these cars. They do look great going down the road. -DOHC Lover.

I just bought a 1 owner 94 Cutlass w/3.4 engine and I think I like it, so far. Really don't know what to expect, but hoping for the best. Body and interior etc are exceptionally clean--garage kept red/grey. Sure runs, rides and handles well.

I have a 95 3.4 convertible with 26,230 actual miles on it. Been garage kept from previous owner which was a 72 year old lady that bought the car new in 95.I have had problems finding the quarter window sealing strips which are the rubber molding at the bottom of the quarter windows in the rear. Have enjoyed having this car, but actually fixing to sell. Wife and I didn't put but 400 miles on it last year. Can be contacted at 903-235-2876 or 903-237-6680

Where did you find the rubber strips for the rear quarter windows? Also, anyone to a top replace yet? I am going to try this myself. Comments? Bought a 95 convert and have to replace ps pump and redo brakes.

I too have the 1994 3.4 Cutlass convertible, with 139,000 miles on it Bought the car new and have loved driving it. And yes, my mechanic tells me everything is in the wrong place and car is hard to fix. Had the body cleaned up in January, but the transmission just went out. Trying to make the difficult decision on whether to pull the plug.

I hear you too brother, I just lost 4th gear (overdrive) and now developed the famous "o" ring seal leak, where the distributor used to be in the early v6 60'degree blocks. It's a shame. Trying desperately hard not to sell her. Anyhow, it was a nice run while it lasted. Now she sits in the yard where she might remain for a long while. Already pulled the battery. Probably the beginning of the end. I will have to reflect hard during these winter months.(from original posting guy)

I own a white (black interior) 95 Cutlass Supreme Convertible .... with the 3.4L DOHC engine, with 76K miles. Its garage kept and only sees the outdoors on sunny weekends in the summer. While I know all about many of the issues with the 3.4L engine (intake gasket leaks, o ring oil leaks, timing belt, etc), and all the other cheap GM parts (turn signal stem, electronics, knobs, etc.) that break, its still a great car to drive. Mine still turns heads every time it comes out. I took a 3rd place at a cruising car show this summer with it... so it keeps me smiling. But seriously, if anybody finds those rubber rear quarter window seals, please note that here. I need them (just like everyone else)!! I put a new top (white) on last fall, by a local upholstery shop and it looks as good as the original. This car will remain my toy for years to come, and it WILL become a nice, sought after collectible. Count on it!!

Lookong at this vehicle- cannot replace many parts specific to the convertible as they are "discontinued". There are some aftermarket, but there are also some parts that you cannot get.

I bought a 94 Cutlass Supreme Convertible with just under 100K, and love it. Everything works very well; it's obviously been garage kept except for the past year. The interior is a bit scruffy looking, but the car is beautifully designed from the outside! It draws looks and handles well. Had the timing belt redone recently, and 4 new tires. Acceleration is decent. My young sons love it!

Just bought a 94 convertible with the 3.4; It only has 60,000 miles on it and brought it home to Guelph, Ontario after importing it from the good old USA!
After finally discovering this site and its' dedication to this car, I'd like to hear from more of you who would like to form a club for these vehicles so we can share insights and fixes. I'll leave my e-mail contact & hope to hear from you if you love yours like I love mine... These cars are certain to be collectors. meacheal@rogers.com.

I have a red '95 cutlass with a white convertible top. It had been converted to a NASCAR edition (custom aluminum wheels, white letter NASCAR tires, and a rear spoiler). It really makes it sporty. I love this car. My wife loves it too and drives it often.
I bought it 2 years ago and had to replace all the seals in the top of the engine and re-align the DOHCs. I purchased this car as my toy so I don't mind the work I am putting into it. I just purchased a top and plan to install it myself next week. I too am looking for the rear window quarter weather stripping. The car club sounds great.

I have recently purchased a white with black interior 3.1 L 94 convertible with 130k on it and in fair condition. I purchased a new driver's exterior door handle and will install the better rebuilt part today.
I purchased this car because we have owned a 93 sedan with the same engine since new, and have had great reliability with it at 88k, but yes the engine seal is now leaking, which seems to be a GM problem.
The power steering box was changed twice, and it has never been a great car to turn or park, and this 94 convertible seems to also be stiff in the steering as well, so I'm wondering if that is a GM problem as well?
The GM alternators seem to be bad on most 90's models at around 60k mileage.
I also need the rear window seals, so if anyone knows where to locate them, I would love to know where to find them.
I also require a boot for the convertible top, and will be replacing the roof this month as well, so looking for a reliable place to purchase it to give to the installer.
Also looking for a black console armrest; if anyone knows where I can find one that would be great.
These are great cars and need to be preserved.

I own a Red 3.4 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible. This car looks very good in the sun going downtown. But it worries me everyday because it doesn't seem reliable. In fact, yesterday morning I had no blinkers and no tail lights. The dome light inside has never worked plus the hazard lights have never worked either. I plan on getting the the blinkers and tail lights fixed, but everything else works very nice. If your thinking of buying a used Oldsmobile, just don't.
