1982 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royal Brougham 307 from North America

Summary:

Good cruiser

Faults:

Bought my 82 Delta Royal Brougham last year. It's mostly been parked. Bought it for $400 dollars, and it came with carburetor problems. Changed the carb with a 600CFM Edelbrock. Still have to put on the auto choke. Also needs a belt and battery. Had a fuel leak somewhere, but can't find it.

Bought the car because it is very solid, and I like driving big cars. Has almost no rust on it or under it. I will probably regret the carb change, and go back to the original, because original was probably better; just needs to be rebuilt, but will get it going good for fairly cheap money, and drive it for a while.

I need a new hood ornament too, and the paint is faded and the clear coat peeling. Original paint.

General Comments:

Comfortable ride, cruiser, not fast, but glides once you get going.

1982 Oldsmobile Delta 88 royale brougham 5.0 from North America

Summary:

I love this cruiser of a boat

Faults:

The fan clutch went out causing it to over heat, but was fixed.

The lower power steering hose blew, also fixed.

The radiator blew, also fixed.

General Comments:

This car is very reliable, I haven't had any serious problems with it and when I first got it I drove the hell out of it.

I have found that the fastest it will do in the 1/4 mile is 17.5 but get it on the freeway and it will cruise 130 mph no prob, handles great for its size. And will do a very decent burnout when you hold the break.

Future plans: olds 350 with 300horses, cowl induction hood, new paint w/flames, dual exhaust and 10 inch tire in the rear.

Those upgrades will sure look attractive. A good car pushed to the extreme sad.

1982 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Brougham 5.0 Litre 307 from North America

Summary:

A car that is a pleasure to own and drive

Faults:

Muffler replaced in 2004.

Transmission rebuilt at 93,000 miles.

Rear seal on transmission developed leak in 2004.

General Comments:

This is a great car. It has been in my family for 17 years and now I am the owner of this fine automobile.

This car handles like a dream on even the bumpiest of roads. Compared to my previous Toyota 4Runner it feels as if I am driving on air.

Another thing that suprised me was the remarkable gas mileage that a car of its size would usually get. The Olds gets about 19 in the city and 22 on the highway. It still isn't great compared to todays standards, but for a older vehicle it could be worse.

I really like the plushness of the interior. No matter where you sit it feels like your sitting on a fluffy pillow. The back seat is huge and could accommodate someone lying down easily.

Under the hood and trunks are pluses too. The trunk is spacious enough for all my needs and there is plenty room under the hood to work on the car easily.

Also the car is built like a tank. Case in point,I T-boned a 2003 GMC pickup on accident and had very minor damage to the front end of my vehicle. Although I cannot say the same for the pickup.

All in all very satisfied with my old Oldsmobile Delta 88 Brougham.

1982 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royal from North America

Summary:

This is a great car for only 500.00 dollars

Faults:

I had replace the power steering pump and tie rods.

I also had to fix the gaskets around my carb.

General Comments:

I have just given the Delta 88 a tune up and it has never ran better.

When you drive this car it is like you are floating down the highway because of its' size.

The interior of the 88 is very comfortable. Even for a car that is over twenty years old, it feels as if it is brand new.
