1985 Oldsmobile Firenza 2.0 from North America

Summary:

An 80's car that has held up well

Faults:

Starter went out.

A/C has never worked.

General Comments:

This car is not stylish or fast. It is however reliable. I've been driving it for more than a year and have only had the standard problems one would expect from an older car. With gas prices the way they are I'm very grateful to have bought this 4 cylinder car for 150.00 bucks.

I also enjoy the hatchback aspect of it. It has decent room to carry things with the back seat folded down.

I've only seen one other similar J body in the time I've been driving it and it was a Pontiac J2000. I've also gotten a few positive comments from people who remember them from the 80's, as well as questions from younger folks who have never seen one at all.

Cool in a funky unique type of way.

Hi. I have a 1985 Firenza sedan I can't find out anything about it even online! Should I keep it? I need a reliable car as I am on disability. I have put new tires, alternator, and a oil pressure widget (?), plus a muffler.

I have only had this car for 3 months. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Misty.

Misty... go to www.google.com & type in "1985 Oldsmobile Firenza". A lot of info about it should be pulled up.

1987 Oldsmobile Firenza GT 2.8 MPFI V6 from North America

Summary:

I love this car

Faults:

Transmission Slipped when first bought.

2 cylinders stopped firing before I bought.

Threw Rod when it stopped running.

General Comments:

This car is beastly. It was my first car I bought it for 75 dollars. When I got it all it needed was a tune up and some stop slip, and it went from a car that should be in the junk yard to a serious demon machine. The trunk was huge, I was able to fit my house stereo speakers in it, and the back seats while not the roomiest were comfortable enough. Mine had the power windows, seats, and locks. I could never keep it at one speed, it would always fluctuate a couple miles up and back down to the speed I was trying to keep it at. This car is my favorite and always will be, I miss my little demon machine.

Why did you sell it. Ours is still amongst the favourite in our small collection. The others are all Benz. Original owners and car has just passed 65k km (40k miles). It's a keeper as will start anytime, anywhere, including at -40c when the Benz diesels get quirky. Find another and keep it.

1987 Oldsmobile Firenza from North America

Summary:

It is a good/cheap running little car

Faults:

My seats have started to wear mildly bad so I had to put seat covers on them so they would hold together. My headliner is falling in and the previous owner tried to staple it up and that only worked for a little while. It has a head gasket out, but it still runs great. It smokes a lot though. I had to replace the fan, fan motor, and the thermostat because it kept over-heating. I just had to replace the stud bolts that hold the tire on the other day because I was going to a friends house and my tire fell off, all of the bolts broke. It has a lot of rust on it.

I have started putting other parts on it to cut back on the rust.

General Comments:

It runs great. I have had it well over 100 mph. It handles very well in all weather conditions. If you take care of it, it will do you a lot of good. The interior of this car is alright. It has a big truck for stereo equipment. The driver and passenger seats are comfortable and have plenty of leg room, but the back seat is really small.
