For what its worth, I have had the crank shaft sensor replaced, I replaced the drivers side power window regulator and today when I drove into work, the gear shifts were extremely rough. I am about to check the automatic transmission fluid, but more than likely I will be at the Buick shop this afternoon. By the way, I have 93K miles on the car.

What I found out about my 2001 intrigue is when I use lower grade fuel I get the not so fine transmision shifting others mentoned above.
Other than that I think is a good car.

I also have noticed the same kind of problems with my 2001 olds intrigue... As we speak, my car is in the shop getting the crank shaft sensor replaced, which seems to be a recurring problem among intrigue owners in this forum. My car has 130,000 km on it and up until now, I haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. It drove smooth, fast and was comfortable... Too bad that to get that back, I have to break my bank for probably around $350 : (

I had the same issue with the crank sensor at about 50K.
I had to replace the trannie at 188K.
The overdrive Solenoids on every Olds I ever driven have caused me problems. It starts with hard shifting, then the car stalls after you drive in overdrive, then stops.
I have some electrical issuse with the heated seat on the driver side. The switch for the cruise control on the steering wheel went bad, and the turn signals don't work sometimes, because the hazard light switch has a loose connection..
Now my ABS, Check Engine, service vehicle, and track control off lights stay on all the time..

I bought my Intrigue in 2005, have had it for a year... first I had problems with one of the windshield wipers, but the dealership was no help they couldn't fix it and all it needed was to have the whole arm replaced. No big deal. It does shift hard and I thought that the transmission was going out, but as I read all the other comments that's just the car. I too have to replace the crank shaft sensor. My dad is a mechanic so I just have to pay the $60 for the part. Another thing that I have noticed is that my headlights flicker every now and then and my blinkers don't work sometimes. I am praying that I don't run into electrical problems. Overall the car has been good, but the ford probe I had before was better to me then this one...

2001 Intrigue, 80k-
I am having almost all of the same problems listed above. Now at 80k miles I am noticing hard shifting and even skipping (or so it seems) of gears. I had to replace the motor at 67k because a bearing went out (engine was never low on oil or too long between changes). I thought this was a little out-of-character for this engine. I am also noticing flickering of headlamps and interior lights, the fan quits running as well when this happens, and the cigarette power outlets quit working (simple fuse problem) but I do think there is a larger overall electrical problem. The one thing I can say is that I have never had a problem with the crankshaft position sensor.
I am now dumping this ride for a 04 RX-8...hope the rotary doesn't let me down.

I have a 2000 Olds Intrigue and it has 41,000 miles on it. It has been a great car. I just had to replace the crank position sensor on it at a cost of $577. It was hesitating on start up and occassionally hesitating on acceleration.

I have a 2001 oldsmobile intrigue with a 3.5L engine. I have a 3.05 gear ratio transmission. At 70,000 miles, the transmission went out without any warning. I never got on the car so I did not notice any hard shifting of the transmission. I also have a clunking noise in the front when going over minor bumps. All in all, the car is not the best. I would rate it a 4 out of 10.

I have a 2001 Intrigue I only paid 2200.00 for it last month it has 119 thousand miles on it. I took it straight to the dealer when it started overheating all they told me the problem was is a crack in the reservoir. Now it fine also the right rear light assembly had a short in it. Both of those problems cost me 490.00. The Dealer also gave me a list of other problems totaling over 4400.00. One of which was the transmission solenoid. my sister has a 05 Matrix and they told her that was what was wrong with her car. But she still had the problem they found out that it was the computer. I don't want to have to pay for the solenoid problem (500.00) and still have the problem if it is the computer. That will upset me to have to pay that then have to pay almost 1000.00 for the computer.

I purchased a 2001 Intrigue with 61k miles from a local dealer back in Feb of this year. I experienced a clunking noise emanating from the front end about 1 week of usage. The dealer corrected the problem by adding grease to a splined segment of the steering shafts. They said it was a typical problem with this platform of GM vehicles and that GM sells a kit to do this. It seems to have corrected the noise. I am on my second new battery. Sometimes it doesn't want to start and acts like a weak battery (turns over very slowly). The battery tests fine under load. It's an occasional problem right now; hasn't left me stranded, but I have no idea what is causing the problem. This afternoon the transmission started shifting very hard in all gears. The fluid is at the correct level. Any clues? Thanks.

My Intrigue has problems when shifting into second gear at max load, it chatters while shifting. Back parking and making 3 point turns were a problem because the power steering would become very hard during idle. Since there are no more Olds dealers, I took it to a Buick dealer. They tested the power steering system and said the power steering pump was putting out insufficient pressure at idle. Replacement of the pump for $550 did the job, now the car steers fine. The drivers side window electric motor was replaced for $445, it goes down just fine, but when going up it still practically stalls at about 1/3 of the way up, and then takes off and closes really quick, but it isn't going to last too long.
I've put on some Continental Extreme Contact tires on it, now the car handles just great. It's got good pickup, and for long trips it's really comfortable. I've got 64,000 miles on it.
