1994 Oltcit Club RL 1.1 from Romania
Summary:
Very good little car.
Faults:
Transmission broke @99000km.
Minor oil leaks, must replace part.
General Comments:
This is the best car ever built in Romania, apart from Solenza, and I really love it. Fast, good-looking, but not very economic.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Oltcit was actually the same as the Prototype Y sold in the 70s in France, which later on evolved to the Citroen Visa. The Prototype Y and the Oltcit were only a 2 door coupé hatch. Oltcit had only manual transmission and no fancy accessories, no electric windows, no air conditioning. Three Oltcit versions were sold in Communist Romania during Ceausescu dictatorship time : Special (cheaper 600cc 2 cylinder flat boxer engine), Club (1100cc 4 cylinder flat boxer engine) and TRS (1300cc 4 cylinder boxer meant mainly for export as Citroen Axel). The 4 cylinder boxer engines were actually quite peppy with a raspy sound, somehow similar to Subaru engines, but these carbureted cars had rather poor fuel consumption even when the carburetor was properly adjusted and cleaned.
