1956 Packard Patrician 4 door V8... 378? from North America
Summary:
Excellent and sad
Faults:
Load leveling needed refurbishing.
General Comments:
Loved it. Bought in West Palm Beach. In 1969 I had driven the car to her Osterville, Cape Cod summer home. She gave me the car Xmas 1970. She had purchased a 1970 Lincoln Cont... It didn't have suicide doors that scared her like cars from her youth. Mrs Dupont was 80 in 1970. She was chauffeured all the time.
I drove the Patrician from Florida to Cape Cod a couple of times. Had to use leaded high test. It did not have A/C.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

What's the "sad" part?
No A/C in FL?

We are talking about a 1956 car here. Back in those times, very few cars had A/C.

Sad that people rarely talk about cars this fondly anymore.

The car is sad because no one talks about cars this fondly any more? Apart from "loved it", there is nothing in this review to indicate any particular fondness.

That car has a 374 CID V8 with a 4 bbl carb & dual exhausts. 290 HP.
