2001 Peugeot 206 GLX 1.4 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

This 206 has a mind of its own

Faults:

Everything bought second hand from a sole trader.

The wing mirror was held on with duck tape, which was fixed. Then 1 day after the car was bought, the exhaust completely fell off.

It smells like old people or like something has died in the boot. The seats stick, and if you slap them, 65 million years worth of dust comes out and fills up the car.

The engine is dump end off.

The clutch pedal is more like a switch; it's either on or off, it's so sensitive. Causing epic wheel spin and disgrace to you trying to drive in a simple manner.

The radio just decided to lock itself one day and change its own code, so it cannot be unlocked, so I hit it with a hammer.

The A/C never wants to be on the temperature you select for it. Always changing its mind as if the car does not want it to be that temperature.

The coil pack likes to come and go as it pleases. Meaning it stalls the car when it likes.

The car likes to pop itself out of gear as it chooses, and does not like reverse.

The hazard lights come on with the windscreen wipers when you turn the sidelights on.

The automatic rain sensor comes on when the sun shines; a bit ironic.

General Comments:

It's faster if you coast everywhere.

The smells makes me have the window open whenever I drive it, even though 6 bottle of air freshener have been used.

Bee prepared for it to ruin your life and empty your wallet, as if needs constant work and parts and fuel.

The suspension is rock hard.

I swear it chooses if it wants to go or not.

The hand brake is shaped more like a sexually orientated toy. What do these people think when they design their cars.

I did smash in the radio with a hammer; that's how angry it makes me.

Also the handbook is all wrong; all of the controls for the model you have are wrong. Such as the steering column height; it does not exist in the car.

If you buy this, prepare to ruin your reputation and your life span.

You never noticed all of these faults before you bought a dog of a car. Any car would be the same if it had been treated like this one obviously has.

Duck tape on the wing mirror, how is that Peugeot's fault?

2001 Peugeot 206 GTi 2.0 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Great fun little car, but not for long journeys

Faults:

Key broke due to iced up fuel cap.

Very hard seats.

Bad seat position.

General Comments:

The car is good, but I am now finding that its seats are so hard, and it's very difficult to get them in the right position, so that anyone who drives it for over 30 minutes, does find they get numb legs etc. And as I now drive it an 1 hour 30 minutes to and from work each day, it is proving to be very uncomfortable.

During the icy period in the UK, I have had terrible trouble with refueling my car, as every single time the fuel cap ices up. I usually have to ask for warm water from the fueling station to de-ice it every time. I have used wd40 on it, but it's not working.

Recently it was so icy that I managed to break my key in the fuel cap; being so far away from home, I had to get the car recovered. I contacted several Peugeot dealers for a new blade for the key, who then tried to charge me £50-27. I did eventually get it for £27, but the key would take 5 days to get to the dealership, unfortunately I had to wait as I had no spare key... moral of the story; always make sure you have a spare key, and always check for ice!
