2007 Peugeot 207 1.4hdi from Romania

Summary:

Great car for the money!

Faults:

For now, all the car seems to go OK.

General Comments:

The car handles very easy. the brakes are very good. the suspension is soft and sporty in the same way. I would liked to see more legs room in the back. The fuel consumption is not what I expected, but its reasonable, 7.7l /100km.

2007 Peugeot 207 THP Feline 1.6 turbo 150hp from Italy

Summary:

Mediocre... with highs and downs

Faults:

Rattles, rattles and rattles in the doors, main central plastic piece, boot.

Rattle and vibrations from the gearbox from start.

General Comments:

I bought a brand new Peugeot 207 THP, 150 horsepower, 1,6 liters BMW-PSA joint ventured powerplant in May 2007 after having read many reviews on magazines and on the internet.

Well, this was the first Peugeot we have bought and the first french car ever we bought.

After more than 3 months and around 7800 kms on its shoulders I have to point out that the engine is really a little gem, eager to rev high and with a good output. It feels like a diesel, but without the hideous rattles and with linear accelleration. It feels like en eletric engine sometimes, it's very very smooth and quite cheap on the pump station too...

The ride: it is quite hard on the disastrous roads we have here in Italy, it's not very comfortable at all.

It's a little less "hard" than my previous Mini Cooper S, but it is still hard (I was expecting something better honestly)

Build quality: that's the hardest part to describe. THe interior materials are really nice on the touch and feel, but they are assembled really bad. I have tons of rattles and squeaks from almost everywhere. Just today another one came out, on the extreme right on the passenger side. ALL those rattles are almost impossible to repair as they come from inside the dashboard...

I knew Peugeot were rattly cars, but I was hoping the new 207 would have been a little better than this.

The boot has always made a hideous rattle from the very day I bought it. I have adjusted it a bit, but it's still not that great.

The engine is rather "rattly" too, but the gearbox is REALLY noisy when at idle. Whenever the clutch pedal is pressed the noise goes away. Something is wrong on the clutch, flywheel, or the gearbox...

At a price of 19,100 euros the car was hi-specced and came with a lots of really interesting features (parking sensors, huge panoramic roof, MP3 reading radio, etc etc) that somehow makes you appreciate more the car.

All in all, a rather mediocre car, I was expecting really a better car from Peugeot.

The engine and the options included in this version should however make you quite happy, but maybe only on the short run.

Mine has a rattle in the boot as well. Its the big lump of plastic that's not screwed to anything inside the spare wheel. I've put a bit of insulation round it and its stopped, but this shouldn't have to be done with a new car.

2007 Peugeot 207 16V 1.4 16v petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A triumph of style over substance

Faults:

Various electrical faults.

Air conditioning fault.

Problem with the gear selector.

Clutch judder.

Wiper faults.

General Comments:

This car was purchased to replaced my wife's accident-damaged Suzuki Swift (new type). This is the first French car we have owned, having previously driven Japanese cars. We had heard bad stories about older Peugeots, but were led to believe the 207 was a leap in quality.

Unfortunately this is not the case. Build quality is a long way from Japanese standards. There have been various niggles with the car, and the gearbox and clutch remain awkward to use. The dealer is unwilling or unable to fix faults, and any minor issue requires at least 2 visits (one to 'look at' the fault and another to actually do anything about it). The car is less than a year old and has done only 6k, and yet the stitching on the driver's seat is already pulling apart.

My wife is quite small (5'4") and the driving position suits her. I am 6'3" and find the steep angle of the windscreen and A-post restrictive.

Performance and economy are acceptable, but nothing special for a modern 1.4 16V. The 207 is not particularly cheap, and for the money we could have done better I think. For performance, reliability and driving enjoyment our old Swift 1.5 was in a different league.

The way they shut Ryton, their most productive plant at the time, and threw production of this car at the lowest bidder says all you need to know about how they prioritised quality.

Bought a 207 in jan 07. Has been it the garage twice, once for rear wheel bearing, and just now for the pedals sticking.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else.

Hi. Gearbox went, and 2 MONTHS down the road it's gone again and Peugeot will not fix.

Anybody else had trouble?

2007 Peugeot 207 CC GT THP 1.6 turbo from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A great driver's car

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

This car is fantastic, uses a 150bhp version of the new Mini Cooper S engine and it pulls well from any speed.

Has a huge amount of torque for a 1.6 petrol and the mid range acceleration is pleasingly quick. Averages around 36mpg.

The cabin uses very high quality materials, and the black seat leather has contrasting white stitching.

Equipment levels are very good, as standard I got: Automatic directional headlights, MP3 CD, Fully electric roof, electric folding heated door mirrors, 17" alloys, dual zone climate control and a auto dimming rear view mirror.

Drives and handles fantastically, never short of grip.

2 adults can sit in the back at a pinch, but it wouldn't be worthwhile going anywhere further than about 30 minutes away.

Overall the 207cc GT THP is a fantastic car and I would certainly recommend it over any of it's competition.
