1991 Peugeot 405 Mi16 1.9 from North America
Faults:
The passive restraints really couldn't be more junky than they are. When I drive alone, the passenger side zips back and forth on its own at light speed.
The suspension is really too noisy for a car of that price range.... The brakes make noise occasionally when applied.
The sunroof got hung up and needs new cables. The security coded radio had a great sound, but since the antenna broke and was disconnected, the radio won't work.... Electric seat was poorly conceived, and is always a pain to go forward and back.
General Comments:
It's really a fun car to drive, but it needs more headroom for taller people.
With only 64,000+ miles, I wonder what else I will be having to fix.
I can't believe the management at Peugeot has not tested the designs of their systems better... I could dream of a Peugeot with Toyota quality... Why don't they swallow their pride and copy the companies that make great components for their cars, and use those ideas, instead of selling us cars with so many design flaws. And get those production line people to do a better job of assembling the sub-assemblies of these great driving cars..
When they can get up there with the Toyota build quality, they will be the greatest of cars to own and drive...
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I had one of these once, only kept it for 1 month as it was so tacky and unreliable. It was also very thirsty for petrol, water and oil.
I sold it to a mate who has had nothing but trouble!!! Fuel lines splitting, brakes going, CV joints, starting problems etc.
