I own a 1998 Peugeot 406 SRi turbo, and I have never owned a more surprising car in my life.
I bought it 3 years ago for £978, and that was a star price!
It's a beautiful saloon car in exceptional condition. It's superbly well equipped with climate control, 8 speaker stereo system, cassette player, CD multi-changer, electric sunroof, electric heated leather seats, leather dash, wooden trim, wood and leather steering wheel, cruise control, and some other basics like electric mirrors and windows.
As for the exterior, it has alloy wheels, tinted privacy glass and no scratches or dents at all.
If it's practicality you're looking for, you're probably better off getting an estate model, but as for the saloon, it has a big boot, a spare tyre with a jack, and you can fold the seats down.
It has limo like ride with amazingly comfortable seats, and suspension that just rides the bumps as if they weren't there.
Now performance; the brakes on mine were brand new and stopped this light car in seconds.
Handling is perfect with power steering, and it gets round a bend at high speeds. It's great to drive on country lanes and A roads. That said though, it's great to drive anywhere! On the motorway it flies. I have maxed my 406 and have hit a top speed of 130mph! Not bad at all for a car around the same price range as a 90mph Nissan Micra. 0-60 in 9 seconds and 168 BHP.
An SRi petrol gives me 28 MPG, which isn't very good, but you have to consider the way it drives.
For reliability, the most it's cost me at an MoT is £125, but no history of breakdowns in its entire life! It still feels like it has at least ten more years of life.
I would highly recommend this to anybody, as it is the best car you can buy for less than £1500!
