2018 Peugeot Expert S 95 BHP turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Cheap VW copy, don’t do it!

Faults:

Rear door catch failed.

Poor directional stability.

Vague steering.

Grabbing brakes.

General Comments:

This is a cheap pastiche of a VW Transporter, but fails on every count. The worst factors are the very poor handling and desperately under powered engine.

Mirrors are poor and the vehicle in general hasn’t been well thought out. Visibility is poor and it’s not looking good reliability wise.

A test drive should have shown you what the vehicle is like, and if you didn't like it you could have bought something else...

Myself I have had 3 of these vans in the family and find them as good as any van from Ford, Vauxhall, VW or whatever.

2008 Peugeot Expert LWB 136BHP 2.0 HDI turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Could do much better

Faults:

The side loading door fell off.

The turbocharger started leaking oil, and then died while waiting for the replacement to arrive.

The blue tooth radio locks up and the only way to turn the radio and everything else off is to disconnect the battery.

Paint finish under the bonnet is appalling, yet this is "to spec".

General Comments:

The van has more room than its predecessor, and appeared to be a totally different design, and has a better feel to it as well.

How wrong I was, the side loading door fell off in the pouring rain one day and damaged the bodywork, leaving me to try and reload the door into it's runners.

Driving along one day, and the blue tooth just locked up, and took the key out of the ignition and everything was still running.

When it went back to the dealership, the area manager took one look at it, looked down upon us as if we had dared critisise the build and paint quality.

Really should of learnt our lesson with our previous Citroen, and now we believe we have.

I have a Fiat Scudo 2009 (59 reg), which is the same as a Peugeot Expert and Citroen Dispatch.

I too have had the side loading door fall off, but FIAT have said that this is not a fault with the vehicle, it must be the way that it is being opened.

Other problems were the Bluetooth failed, front suspension problems, seat back comes loose, knocking from the rear when going over uneven surfaces, driver's arm rest broken.

Would I recommend this vehicle or manufacturer? NO.

I drive a Peugeot Expert 2.0 120 long wheel base 2009.

New gearbox at 8,000.

Dual mass flywheel replaced. 18,000.

Rear Bridgestone tyres are wearing uneven, like a 50 pence piece, lots of road noise.

Brakes take a lot to get use to.

Unstable on motorway in any wind.

I could go on, but I won't...

I have also noticed the instability, which can become severe with no warning. In my opinion there is a design fault and the vehicles should be recalled.

2007 Peugeot Expert 2.0 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Nice looking van - crap electrics

General Comments:

The radio and interior lights turn off after 5 minutes of stopping the engine, so called 'economy mode' The only way to get the radio back is to turn the engine on and off again to get another 5 minutes.

Don't Peugeot think that customers might like to sit in there van or car and have lunch/read the paper/listen to the radio? Seems to me that they might be selling a lot of batteries/ starter motors in the future!

Will never ever buy another Peugeot.

If that is your only complaint about this van, why have you given it such low marks? Is there more that you're not telling us?

The Espace 4 turns everything off after a few minutes as well. There is a procedure to bring it into diagnostic mode, which lasts for an hour and a half and keeps the electrics on. Maybe Peugeot has the same?
