1986 Plymouth Duster Turismo 2.2L from North America
Summary:
Just a miserable car
Faults:
Too numerous to mention. Stalled at cruising speeds.
General Comments:
My family had gotten and 84 Horizon that we all rather liked. It ran well, was roomy for its size and pleasant. I really wanted a Chrysler Laser, but was too cheap to buy one, so we got off to a bad start and it only got worse.
By 1986, Chrysler's here today, gone tomorrow quality was gone. This car was just a P.O.S. On top of that, there just wasn't a redeeming characteristic about it. It was ugly, awkward and didn't do anything well. Kinda like me at the time. I suppose it was slightly better than the Monza it replaced. Fortunately I loved the 89 Grand Prix I bought after it.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

Are all early 80's designed cars really bad, or is it only a select few? The Mustang from this time (late version 70's) looks really bad.
For clarity, I like American cars and do not want to start a big debate, I am from the UK not USA, just wondering what the low down is with cars from this time; I read a lot about it with people blaming the fuel/oil crisis at the time and so on, and that the cars were OK, just not as good as late 60's stuff.
