1984 Pontiac 6000 le 2.5 4 cylinder. from North America

Summary:

One word Describes it Perfect!!!

Faults:

Nothing ever went wrong with any gm I owned until 100000 miles.

It started to have trouble starting and I found out that it needed the carburetor worked on, but that was my only problem.

General Comments:

When I first got my 6000 Le it wasn't that I picked it my citation blew up and I needed a new car so I chose my silver 6000 with grey int.

I never could think of a complaint about it and I still can't.

I got this car as my college car and I've kept it ever since.

I don't drive it very much anymore since I got my Aveo, but I still got it around and it looks as good as it did when I bought it.

Anyone who would complain about it is a truck person.

1984 Pontiac 6000 LE 2.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

Plenty of luxury for the short on cash!! GREAT!!!

Faults:

Leaks oil.

Water pump 160,000.

Muffler 160,000.

Catalytic converter 130,000.

Starter 160,000.

Radiator 120,000.

A/C 120,000.

Sunroof/upper windshield seal leaks.

General Comments:

Before 120,000 I do not much about the car, but in between then and 160,000 the car was driven about once a month, hence all the problems once it became a daily driver at 160,000.

Since then, this car has been extremely reliable.

The seats are REALLY REALLY comfortable.

It has quite a bit of quirks like the speedometer squeaking like there is no tomorrow when cold, and you can hear gasoline sloshing around when it's full.

Handles very nicely.

Doesn't have a lot of pep, but it will definitely get up and go!

Original tire size isn't made anymore so I have to play around with sizes.

I LOVE THIS CAR!!! Highly recommended if you can find a decent one.

1984 Pontiac 6000 LE 2.5L from North America

Summary:

Very powerful and uncomfortable

Faults:

Both the gas line and brake line rusted out.

Replaced the starter

Car started very hard during the winter time.

It during a rain storm the car will sound like it's going to stall, not sure why, but I'd have to put it in neutral and kick on the gas pedal to up the RPM's, and it runs good again.

Replaced the shock absorbers (my fault).

Had to replace all the warning light bulbs.

General Comments:

Very good car. It got me to point B and back to point A with little or no trouble.

I noticed that when it rains, my car will act up while I'm idle at a stop sign or red light, and I would have to shift to neutral and step on the gas pedal to up the RPM's.

It's hard to start when the car is cold, I usually have to step on the gas pedal 2-3 times to start it.

Though it's a very nice car, with powerful pick-up; I'll be on the highway and I'm passing drivers left and right.

I bought my 6000 from my old high school English teacher for 500 bucks, and he was nice enough to let me pay him in payments since I didn't have all of the money at the time.

I had to re-paint the car, since it had wood-panels that were horrible looking and made the car look like crap, though I painted it myself, since the paint shop wanted 2000, and I did myself for 300.

All in all, a very good car, and if the 6000 was still in production, I would honestly buy one. The seats are a dream, I never feel uncomfortable in the seats.

Its me, the one who wrote this.

Just wanted to clarify some marks as I'm a horrible writer at night ;)

My engine size is 2.8 not 2.5.

And on my heading it should read powerful and comfortable.

Other than that and some spelling errors I think I did pretty good minding I was tired when writing this ;)

Hey I bought a 6000LE just a couple months ago and as you say its powerful and comfortable. Mine needs work done to it (more of the interior) but its been a very dependable car for 400 bucks. It's an 84 by the way and I'm not sure of the mileage since it does have the old odometer, but I know its at least overclocked once or getting there. Even as old as this car may be, when I turn the key it still yells out, "LETS RUN! BABY LETS RUN!"

I also have an 84, it's my first car. It was given to me by my late aunt. The headlining is a little bad, but all in allm a great car.
