That is correct. I mean cars today can't be fixed at home and still be as dependable as these little cars. I too love how the "Technology" is rambled on about today, but they still can't build a little car that gets the same MPG as these. I mean these are up there with the hybrids easily for the mileage. The low tech Firefly/Sprint still beats the smart cars and hybrids. So trouble free, and easy to work on and service. I will be owning a few more of these cars.

I had a 98 Swift. Very reliable, loved the car. However, stay with the manual transmission in these cars. I had the three speed automatic, and it was problematic with stalling on and off. Plus it sapped a bit of the fuel economy and power of the little car.

I LOVED my '94 Swift 2 door hatch 5 speed; it was very peppy and got great mileage too. I have heard the 1989-1994 Metro/Firefly 2 door automatic weren't all that slow, and they still got good mileage as well. I once looked at buying a '98 Swift 5 speed, but ended up with my '94 and couldn't have been happier. I will for sure be getting another one of these cars.

They are solid, tough little cars. So much simpler and economical than hybrids, and much better looking than ugly smart cars. Bit of a shame they don't make them anymore.

I couldn't agree with you more. These are VERY reliable and I found them to be rather tough too. Mine continues to be a really great little car every day, and NEVER fails me. I will be owning more of these cars in the future; they're some of the best little cars out there, and very overlooked and underrated until you own one and discover how good they really are. I never knew these were so reliable until I owned 2 of them, and I will gladly own a few more.

I LOVE these little cars, and you are very right in what you said. I have driven a few smart cars and these are better by FAR; just more room and way better mileage. I get great mileage, a fun to drive car and no mechanic bills. What MORE can you ask of any car? Thanks for the comment.
