1992 Pontiac Grand Am SE 3.3L V6 from North America

Summary:

My favorite as well as the best car I've owned so far

Faults:

Replaced an alternator and water pump.

The driver side window is off the track after being fixed twice.

Air conditioning works poorly.

General Comments:

A great reliable and fun car.

No very major problems after 138,000 miles, just regular maintenance you must do on a car with so many miles.

Very quick, but good on gas mileage.

An all around great car.

Can be the "talk of the town" after adding small interior and exterior mods, as well as mods under the hood.

I totally agree I have a '97 Grand Am with 124k miles and I have had nothing, but problems with it since the day I bought it with only 68K miles. I have had to replace the head gaskit, heater core, timing components, tons of belts, bults, name it I've replaced it, and now its the alternator and fuel regulator!!! They suck how can a car have so many problems?? How can they continue to sell them.

I own a '92 Grand Am also, and I really enjoy it. It's a Quad Four, small, but dependable. I especially like the excellent gas mileage. The check oil light came on in my car, too, but all I did was replace the oil sensor and that fixed it. Sure it's not perfect, but I've never had any serious problems with it. I think it's a great first car and I hope to have it until I graduate high school.

1992 Pontiac Grand Am SE 3.3 V6 from North America

Summary:

A fun but expensive car to maintain

Faults:

Lots of problems the first 12 months:

ABS module.

Seat backs.

Electrical headaches (horn, power windows, AM/FM/CD radio etc).

Rubber molding around the windows and trunk leaked.

Even popped a freeze plug in the engine at about 70k miles.

On/off electrical problems still continue.

General Comments:

Excellent dealer service in Gresham, Oregon - made a number of smaller repairs even after the 6year/100k warranty expired.

Should have bought a Honda!

1992 Pontiac Grand Am SE 4 Clylinder from North America

Summary:

It's cute, reliable, and fun to drive!!!

Faults:

The power steering sticks on sharp turns and the air conditioner causes the car to stall because the idle is set too low. Spark plugs are the only thing I really need to fix on it. Which isn't a big deal. It's a good car!!!

General Comments:

I think that they're cute attractive cars and I'm looking at newer Grand Ams!!!

Everything from the tilt steering wheel breaking to the engine falling out.

General Comments:

I will never buy a Pontiac again, this car went into the shop once a month for the 2 years that I owned it and it only had 50,xxx miles on it.

I agree, I have 130,000 miles on my grand am and it's been in the shop every month since I've had it. Everything from an alternator to a cracked head to a broken motor mount, this car is garbage.

That is interesting, maybe it's because I have a 1991, but this car has close to 130,000 miles and the biggest thing it needs is a tune-up, and it has been a great car, very reliable. More reliable then my roommate's 1992 Toyota Camery I might add.
