1993 Pontiac Grand Am 3.3 from North America

Summary:

With maintenance, this can be a very good car

Faults:

The car pulls to the left.

You can feel some wobble in the steering wheel at low-medium speeds.

Occasionally the car feels like it wants to stall when at a stop, but it hasn't yet.

The thing takes bumps in the road like a model T.

General Comments:

This car accelerates like a champ.

The seats are extremely comfortable.

Everything works on the car.

The trunk is a good size.

I don't have any leaks.

1993 Pontiac Grand Am from North America

Summary:

A headache

Faults:

The car runs great, when it runs, but since I've owned it, I have replaced the transmission, six fuel injectors, starter, oxygen sensor, computer twice, alternator three times the fan motor twice, window regulators, and just yesterday the belts on the alternator and steering system just shredded and caused the car to over heat and lock up, left me stranded 70 miles from home, so the car is in the shop and now they're telling me the water pump needs replaced. $1600 in three months and other little things have gone wrong as well etc. It's a money pit, so I keep saying I'm gonna sell it, but why sell when I put so much money into it! So I still own it, truth is I can't afford another vehicle right now so I keep the car. I hear a lot of good reviews on the car, but along with some bad reviews. Beware buyers, I think they saw me coming.

General Comments:

Cheap, but unreliable after five years!

1993 Pontiac Grand Am SE 3.3 from North America

Summary:

Should be called the Grand DAM

Faults:

Total Computer Failure!

Many times the computer has caused problems. Very frustrating! had to be towed a couple of times. I got a new computer and that one failed about 6 months later. The fan blower wasn't strong and died.

General Comments:

Sporty looking and beefy sounding. Smooth ride comfortable seats and lots of room. But not worth it.

1993 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2.3 from North America

Summary:

It's had a few problems, but it's a great vehicle

Faults:

My heater core and PVC hoses were replaced at around 190000 kilometres.

My ignition switch is starting to go.

Had to replace water pump when bought car, it had a small crack.

General Comments:

My car is in very good condition! little things like tires, oil, filters, etc. need to be replaced in any car, so it doesn't really count as problems. it runs really good when you keep up with the maintenance.

1993 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2.0 Quad Four from North America

Summary:

It's a money-guzzler that many people have problems with

Faults:

Head gasket blew two weeks ago at 147,000.

Catalytic Converter went out at 135,000.

The starter went at 130,000.

General Comments:

I have never seen a mechanic's face light up like it does when I say the words "Quad Four" to him. Each one just smiles and shakes his head and says "It could have been a great engine if GM would have finished it."

I had the head gasket go out a couple of weeks ago and can't even find a mechanic that will warranty a fix for any mileage.

Seats are fine for short rides, but we went on a road trip to Myrtle Beach last winter (500 mile drive) and each time we got out for gas or food our backs killed.

When you buy a car with that mileage, expect to replace stuff like the head gasket and such. Used cars aren't maintenance-free, and some people don't seem to realize that.
