2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.8 from North America

Summary:

Don't buy this car

Faults:

I have replaced the brakes and rotor's on this vehicle 3 times. This vehicle handle's horribly in the snow. The engine is burning oil and has to be filled full about every 2 weeks. The engine mis-fire's despite recent maintenance and regular scheduled maintenance. Many little parts have been replaced. The front end is out of line again.

General Comments:

This car is a maintenance nightmare. General Motors should do something about the brakes. This was my second General Motors vehicle and is my second worse vehicle. I will never buy another General Motors vehicle.

I will have to agree on the brake problem. I have owned by Pontiac Grand Am Gt for a little over a year and the brakes have been replaced 4 times already. The steering wheel also shakes when you go over 50 mph. This is caused warped rotors. I have bought the best brands in brakes and rotors and still have had no luck..

2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.4 Ram Air from North America

Summary:

Find another car, this one is not worth it!!!

Faults:

1. Recall on hazzards 2. Interior falling apart 3. Clear coat coming off 4. Warped rotors (replaced at 25,000) (replaced with after market, the dealers kept doing the same thing). 5. Just past manufacturers warranty and all the lights are now starting to come on. 6. Had to repalce drive belt at 30,000 7. Rear view mirror fell off (I am the only driver and not touched the thing since I bought the car). I got a flat on the 8. Bought car with plug in "new tire". 9. I got a flat on that tire doing about 35 miles per hour, by the time I stopped the car in about 60', I had already busted the $575 aluminum wheel and the dealer laughed at me even though the tire was an original with no repairs done to it by me. 10. I would say my out of pocket expenses in the 3 years I have had the car is well over $3,000.

General Comments:

As far as the engine and handling goes, it is a sound car, but with all the repairs I have had to do to the car, there is no way I will ever buy another Pontiac. I have a 95 Honda with almost 200,000 miles on it, and it will run circles around the GT.

2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE1 2.4L from North America

Summary:

A pricely worhtless car

Faults:

The list is endless:

Broken driver window (30000 miles)

Replace brake rotors (35500 miles)

Broken air conditioner pump (37000 miles)

Had to replace power steering (50000 miles)

Now have a cracked flywheel (55000 miles) and cost or repairing this is in excess of $800

Possibility that transmission is going also ($3000 repair)

CD player does not work anymore ($300)

Cannot use emergency brake in cold weather (it freezes and locks up - had the car towed because of this)

Total repair costs now in a year so far in excess of $1200-1300 for a 3 year old car that has not been drive hard.

General Comments:

This car is nothing, but trouble - Pontiac obviously do not car as it is outside the warranty, but this car is a real lemon if I ever saw one. If the transmission happens to be going it is not even worth my while getting rid of this piece of junk, an absolute nightmare to maintain.

I will never buy a GM car again, ever! and advise all of you out there who buy Pontiacs "get that extended warranty!!"

Hello, My boyfriends Sister bought a new 2000 grand am GT with leather seats. In her case, she says this is the best car she has ever owned. I believe why most cars break down is on the driver and how they drive them. I own a 86 IROC z28 Camaro, I have not had it in the shop, but twice. Also, I own a newer sun fire and I have never even thought about taking it in to the shop. there for, I believe that the car is in the shop 95% of the time because people can't drive them right!!!
