2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.4L Ram Induction from North America

Summary:

Sport style and speed

Faults:

The front end started to make a noise right after I purchased the car, which I thought was warped shoes, but turned out to be the tires not sealing properly on the rims. The tires were replaced and the noise went away.

General Comments:

The only thing I seriously dislike about the car is that it is not offered in a manual transmission.

Also, the seats become somewhat uncomfortable on long trips.

However, I thoroughly enjoy the get up and go the engine delivers, and smooth ride when on the interstate. The transmission shifts extremely smoothly. Also, I like the red instrument gages, and general layout and design of the interior as well as exterior.

2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.4 from North America

Summary:

Try your luck somewhere else

Faults:

After only 1,000 miles, the Service Engine Soon light came on in the car. According to the dealership, this was caused by the gas cap not being tightened properly. This same problem occurred 5 times. Finally it was found to have a leak in the vacuum tube.

I also had to replace the brakes in 2001 and the front tires in early 2002.

Now it is 2003 and the Service Engine Soon light is on again and the Power Steering Pump has gone out.

General Comments:

The Grand Am is a nice looking vehicle.

The body has held up very well.

However, the rest of the car is not quite as nice.

2000 Pontiac Grand Am from North America

Summary:

Buyer Beware

Faults:

My 2000 Pontiac Grand AM has been back to the dealer 8 times in 2 years. Only for broken off plastic parts or for malfunctioned/defective parts. Service maintenance done else where. Car is falling apart. Would not recommend anyone to ever buy Pontiac again. Very disappointed. Car has dings and dents and blinds spots because of low riding. Buyer Beware.

General Comments:

Car too expensive for what you pay for.

Car maintenance too high.

Plastic parts a joke.

Brakes (rotors and pads) completely warn out the day I bought the car.

Getting Pontiac to be responsible a complete joke.

Pontiac not looking after the consumer.

2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT V6 3.4L from North America

Summary:

I like to drive grand ams - - except I never get to because they are always in the shop

Faults:

Drivers side window stopped working when it was -5 outside. I was told by the place that I got it fixed at that it was a fault in the car's design. One small thing broke, and it cost me $500 to fix it, because the entire window and regulator had to be replaced. The dealer gave me a quote of $750.

General Comments:

I owned a 1992 grandam before I bought my 2000. I wanted a newer car that would be more reliable. However after owning it for 6 months the window broke, and I guess this is a common problem and was a design fault. It cost me $500 to get it fixed. When a small clip breaks (which is common) the entire piece of glass needs to be replaced.

Grand ams are fun cars, and I love the way they handle and they are very comfortable, however with the way that my 2000 car has deteriorated I wish I would have bought a Honda like I originally planned.

I bought my Grand Am 2000 at one of dealership this August.

At one glance, I couldn't turn my eyes to another cars. It was so nice. So, I just decided to buy it. But, after I bought, it was keep bothering me.

In a week, the battery went out. Before two months have passed since I bought it, front right side window wouldn't go up. I had to spend 240 some bucks to fix it at the dealership.

What an amazing! Again, rear right window has the exact same problem. Now, dealership is asking me $490 to fix it.

I am really disappoited about the poor quality of this car. Used car is used car, but 2000 year's model of nice looking car, just keep breaking. Isn't that too much?
