2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2.2 twin cam from North America

Summary:

So far so good and one of the nicest looking cars on the road right now

Faults:

The radio sometimes continues to play even when the engine is shut off and the doors are open.

At times, the acceleration and overall power seem incredible; other times it seems to be sluggish. (might be the type of gas or the current weather situation.)

General Comments:

Incredible looks. Got the fully loaded GT styling on the 2.2 SE. Great comfort on the inside - the stereo and controls console in the centre are placed perfectly and the pink/red lighting for the gauges give a warm, comfortable feel.

More than enough power on the highway with this engine. Even at 120 km/hr, this car will gladly kick into a higher gear and provide amazing power, accelerating very quickly and smoothly. Sunroof, power everything, keyless entry, moon roof etc. make this an excellent vehicle for me.

2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE V-6 from North America

Summary:

A questionable bargain

Faults:

The regulator on driver's door had to be replaced.

Two dents on the roof towards the rear window. This is on the left side and the right side.

The driver's door needed grease.

General Comments:

Has anyone noticed the dents on the roof need the rear window. It looks like it could be a weld problem. Dealer has not given me a good answer. He says that all the cars on the lot are the same way.

Tires seem to be leaking air.

The rotors have a grinding sound. The dealer says they are just that way.

I like the car, but it seems to have problems that could have been prevented from past model years.

I own a 2001 Grand Am SE-1 with the 2.4 litre twin cam 4 and it is the best car I've ever owned. After six years it looks and runs like brand new. I have no idea about what the "dents" in the roof are. Mine is flawless, with a perfect smooth finish. As for tires leaking, put a can of flat fixer in them all and you'll never have another problem with that.

2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT1 3.4L V6 from North America

Summary:

Amazing

Faults:

The weatherstrip on the driver and passenger door leaked.

The driver's side power window regulator fell apart inside of the door.

General Comments:

Great looking and feeling car.

This car handles very well.

For the price, I would purchase another Grand Am GT in a second.

I upgraded from a 2000 SE to a 2001 GT because I loved the model year 2000 so much. I liked how the GT looked.

Awesome stock stereo system. No other auto manufacturer can match or beat what GM has done.

2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.4L V6 from North America

Summary:

An attractive sleeper awaiting after-market support

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

This car is quick off of the start when I am the only one in it.

However it feels like it has more high end than low end torque.

The dash illumination, which is an orangish-red, needs to go.

The amplified Monsoon stereo system bumps way louder than any factory system I have heard.

Plus it has a feature that increases the volume proportionally with your speed.

E-brake is hand operated so you can power slide like a serious demon.

Trunk design does not allow you to utilize its whole space.

Plenty of room.

Seriously attractive car.

Top speed is 115 with the limiter (trust me).

Top speed of the GT and GT1 is 131. I've only gotten to a little over 120 (had to slow down for a turn) with my 99GAGT, but I've been told the governer kicks in at 131 by other 1999-2002 GAGT drivers.

I currently own a 99 grand am H.O. (high output) ram air Gt. This car for stock is great.

The car gets from 0-60 in about 6 seconds.

First gear puts you up to 47 mph all ready.

Second is about 80 mph give or take..

Third gear usually goes to about 93 mph.

Forth I really don't know because I'm not paying attention.

Finally over drive kicks in at about 112 mph.

I've been only able to stop it out at about 134 mph (damn governor)

Over all this car is quick off the line and that's when you usually take the advantage in racing. This car could be even better if they made it manual in the 3400 engine. I'm planning on getting the new GTO this November with the V-8 manual and can't wait to put up some comments.
