If you have a 2000 Grand Am suggest you check the spindle eyes where the control arms hook to spindle. My son was in a terrible crash because of the lower control arm on the left wheel broke loose.

I have a 99 Grand Am GT that has also had many of the problems I've just read that others have had. I bought my car at 42000 miles one year ago. I took it home with the pulsating brakes, I didn't realize that was a bad thing, until June 03, I finally got my warped rotors changed and new pads ($325).The alternator died on me one month after I bought it, that was covered under warranty. Two months after I bought it kept overheating, but noone could find anything wrong with it. So they changed the thermostat, but it continued to overheat until June 03, when they realized the intake gasket was blown. Also in June we needed a new belt and in July a new battery. One other problem that my car still has is the turn signal ticking sometimes keeps ticking once its turned off. I agree with goodfellawiseguy that we should make a lawsuit to get our money back.

I also have a 2000 Grand Am SE. Not too happy about it though, even though I like the looks of my car. I bought it used at a car dealer with 36,000 km on it in May 2001. Since then we have had both front routers replaced (which by the way GM did cover or our salesman paid for it) the brakes have been replaced twice. We had to replace the whole blinker unit (which was costly). NOW something is leaking and they tell me it is the engine coolant leaking from the engine intake. Which is another costly thing. they have to take the whole engine apart or something. Anyways I have made a call to the salesman we bought the car from to see if there is any recall on this. I am almost tempted to get rid of this car. It has been nothing, but problems.

I bought a 2000 Grand Am in April of 2000. At 15,000 I had a complete brake job. Again at 30,000 and at 60,000. With times in between then to input new pads on the brakes. I have had the intake/outtake system replaced... The fuel pump replaced and the air conditionar fixed 4 times. I have bought a new air compressor and I have had the car back in the shop several times since then to have the air conditionar fixed...

Has anyone had problems with power window regulators going out and causing the windows to fall down and not operate at all one way or the other?? The supposed fix is replacing the regulator which also includes the motor all sold as one part with installation and parts to the tune of approximately $400.00??
I have a 2000 Grand Am and both windows are now wired shut just so they will stay up until I can get the money to fix it. Are there any current recalls on this problem or is this just something that has to be sucked up and paid for. Just wondering if I'm the only one having this problem. It seems the most complaints are regarding brakes. Help please!!! Just curious.

I have a 2001 grand am, and have had a lot of problems with, it 1. it would not turn over, it would try, I had it towed to the dealer, they said it was the fuel component,$800.00 dollars, later, it happened again, I had a private mechanic look at it, he said, it was the factory alarm, once it resets it self the car turned on again, 2. now the signal lights are not working, I have to keep using the hazard lights so people will know when I am changing lanes, has anyone else had a problem like this, When I took it for the first problem, the dealer says he see these cars with this problem quite frequently (fuel component)

I am the owner of a 1995 Grand Am SE with 99,000 miles who has been experiencing the the same brake rotor problems as the owners of the 2000 and newer models are reporting. I find it unconscionable that in at least six years Pontiac has not corrected this SAFETY issue.

I own a 1999 Grand Am, and have had the same problems with the noise in the front end. It seems to me that Pontiac is making a lot of money doing our brake jobs. Which do not fix the problem. I have had two brake jobs, and purchased new tires. The problem went away for a year after the tire change, but has now returned.

Hi, I am a 2-month owner of a 2003 Grand AM. I wish I read about these problems two months ago. I have been having problems with my brakes and rotors. My brakes grind and squeak, I'm taking to a Pontiac dealership today.

I own a Pontiac Grand Am SE 2000 version and have had a lot of problems also. I had to put new brakes on as well. I have already replaced the driver's side window motor, and now I the passenger side is broken. The security system keeps locking up on me, when I drive the SECURITY light will come on and stay on, and sometimes when I go to start the car, it won't start, I'll have to wait 10 minutes for it to start. Has anyone had this same problem? Any suggestions? Please help.

Hi Guys. I have a 2000 Grand Am GT and am having the EXACT same problems with the brakes. Quick Note, I bought the Power Slot Rotors and special performance ceramic brake pads only to find that it fixes the problem for about 2 months. I am looking at changing the brake pads & rotors for the third time. I have 51000 miles on the car, there's no reason this should be happening. Thanks for that bit of info about the shims. I hope it works. I've also had problems with the front wheel bearings, which were replaced by Pontiac under warranty (extended) My sunroof was leaking water when it rained hard. Just about everything else mentioned by you guys also happened. I don't know, at one time I thought this was a good car. I still have 22 months left on the finance and I'm hoping to get out of it before the term is up. My e-mail is goodfellawiseguy@msn.com I'd love to keep in touch with some of you guys just to see if we all can come up with a way to solve this stupid problem. Maybe we all should get together and file a class action lawsuit against Pontiac so they might actually listen to our complaints!!! Take care and good luck with solving your "brake woes" Joey.
