Faults:
When I purchased the car. It wasn't in running condition. It had no brakes -- meaning no rotors, no pads, and no calipers. The power steering pump needed to be replaced soon after I had gotten it running again. The car has eaten three alternators (I finally decided to go with one with a lifetime warranty). The car has also gone through two fuel pumps. The speedometer no longer functions (my fault for that). The odometer has yet to function. The odometer has yet to function. It shows the same mileage from when I purchased the car. The car was purchased at a Police Impound Auction in Mississippi.
I payed 1200 for the car. Since then I have put close to five grand under the hood and have drag raced the car in Huntsville. My car currently get 9 MPG on the highway she gets close to 15 MPG
Its not the cars fault its the modifications that I have done to it.
I love my car I use it to race, and drive daily to work, school, and the occasional street drag.
General Comments:
The car is no longer the stock 3.1 V-6 MFI It is now-- 3.1 bored to 4.3, 24 valve DOHC Mulitport Fuel Injection. Injector upgrade (36% injector out put increase), Port and Polish performed. Oil cooler and Transmission cooler installed. The 4 speed auto has been replaced with a 5 speed semi-auto transmission. The lower half of the engine block has been replaced with the 4.3 from a 2002 Blazer. The car is currently pushing 324.6 Hp. (tested /w Dyno) And the cars current top end is 181.4 MPH (Tested at Huntsville) The cars last Drag time was 9.7836.
I believe people do not understand the LE the car is a light body style with a large engine. Sure I know every car will need basic maintenance every car does. Like brake pads, oil, and tuneups.
I have built this Grand Prix from the engine out and I haven't found a better car yet. I understand the car by the sound of the engine and I never puch the car more than I know what shes capable of.
I would recommend a Pontiac to anyone, but if you don't like to get your hands dirty don't buy an LE.
If your planning to buy an LE I realize you can't base any real good information off of my review. This review is to show you that the LE is very capable of anything you want to use it for, imagine the possibilities. :)
