1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

Elegant style with a flair of sportiness

Faults:

My car has been the best car, I have had a couple things go wrong with it... at 123,000 miles the radiator cracked, I was told it was a common crack with Grand Prixs, the at 126,500 miles the water pump went out. Other than that my car has been a wonderful car. Except for the stiff seats, but its all workable.

General Comments:

I was really hesitant to buy another Pontiac, since my first one was a junker, I only had my Grand Am for about four months, and that car blew up. but since I got this Pontiac I have been very very pleased with my car and have had absolutely no problems, that car has never left me stranded on the side of the road (unlike my other Pontiac). I guess if someone was to ask me if I was going to buy another Pontiac, I would have to say 'yes,' but I would only buy another Grand Prix.

1997 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.8 from North America

Summary:

Killer

Faults:

When I got the car the radio's volume button was broken, but I had the dealer install a new facotry radio. The battery died so I bought a new one. Other than that, the passenger power window makes noise when going up/down, I think the motor is shot.

General Comments:

I like the car, it handles well in adverse conditions and always got me to my destination. The engine has good acceleration and the car brakes very well. driving in Florida isn't easy (old people) and the car's maneuverability has got me out of a lot of situations. if you take of of your car it will take care of you. it is my first car and I will buy from Pontiac again.

Faults:

Rivet stems left in the door panels. Dealership service failed to replace one of the door panels causing a broken catch later on after road vibrations.

2 alternators.

2 batteries.

1 water-pump.

1 of the fog lamps kept burning out, gave up on it and just left them turned off.

Rear main seal.

ERG valve.

General Comments:

The car handles great and has good power for a family sedan. I just wished that Pontiac's Quality Assurance department had greater resolve.
