2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1 from North America
Summary:
Will never buy another Pontiac again
Faults:
This car has had major mechanical failures.
1st transmission went at 45,000, and the 2nd transmission at 62,000. Thankfully - both were covered by extended warranty through Hertz.
The lower intake manifold gasket was the next major thing to go ($1400).
Tie rods needed work at about 100K... and last but not least - blown head gasket at 191,000.
I really wanted to like this car, as it was comfortable & sporty looking... but it has been a serious money pit.
I have always kept up on regular maintenance service, and the car was driven on the freeway for commuting.
The head gasket blew without any warning last week. I'm done - not sinking anymore money into this car, & I certainly will never buy another Pontiac. I know that I got a lot of miles out of this vehicle, but it has had way too many issues...
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

"As for comments on this site about quad 4 Grand Ams being quicker, I do not think the Grand Prix GT driver with whom you were racing knew he or she was in a race."
I have to agree, I think a lot of the boasting about winning "races" on this site is due to that same reason.
Just because you pull away from someone at a stoplight, doesn't mean that you "won" a race. Most of us are responsible & mature drivers, and would not engage in such immature and foolish behavior. When we see someone blasting away from a stoplight, we just shake our heads.
