I test drove 3 Grand Prixs (all 2007 models) before my last car purchase mainly because I have been so impressed with my 2001 Grand Am with the twin-cam 4.

I was terribly disappointed in the lack of power from the 3.8 litre V-6 in the Grand Prix. It was actually SLOWER than my 4-cylinder Grand Am. In spite of the hefty size, the ride was WORSE than my Grand Am, as was the handling. Obviously I DIDN'T buy one.

On the other hand, our other GM cars have been absolutely flawless. My brother's 3.5 litre V-6 Impala is very smooth, powerful, gets 30+ mpg highway and has been totally reliable.

GM currently builds some of the best cars on the planet (as evidenced by Car and Driver and Motor Trend selecting nearly HALF of their "World's 10 Best" from GM).

Before rushing off to buy an import, I'd do a bit of research. Consumer Reports refers to Toyota's "Uncharacteristic" decline in quality, Nissan has made several "cars to avoid" lists, and Honda is still a member of the "transmission of the month club".

Having owned both imports and domestics, I can assure you I will NEVER buy another import. None of ours lasted as long or was as reliable than our domestics have been.

I own and LOVE my 2006 Grand Prix GT. Any one that says that the GT model (260hp Supercharged) is underpowered is wrong. Never drove the GXP model, but it must haul ass with a V8 motor, cause my V6 is very fast!

My 2006 Grand Prix is one of the best cars I've owned. It has a very nice interior style & exterior. And is very fast.

Grand Prix 2006 hands down the best car for speed, class and style. I would recommend this car to anyone! Great for a family car, and also the 4-door is good on gas mileage.

I love my 2006 Grand Prix. Great gas mileage, but check gas cap keeps coming on, even with a new cap.

I bought my 2006 Grand Prix GT (Supercharged) last year with 71,000 km's, and currently driven up to 87,000 km's. Haven't had any complaints or problems yet. It's fast, comfortable, and quiet on the highway. I have a heavy foot, and it handles well for that. It burns roughly 9L for every 100 km's on the highway, and about 11L for every 100 km's around town. What can I say, I just love this car!

I find more with this car it's all how you drive it... I averaged 34 MPG driving just under 300 kms all highway, in the city I'm getting 20 MPG.

As well from the issues people have with this car I believe it's the driver for the most part. I test drove 11 of the 21 for sale in my province and found a lot had issues relating to the past owner. Well each to his own.

My good weather car, has a chevy 350 and I can get between 7 MPG and 17 MPG in the city and it's all up to my driving.
