2000 Pontiac Montana 3.4 from North America

Summary:

Good vehicle compared to others of its class.

Faults:

Multiple replacements of power sliding door motor and/or latching mechanism.

Back hatch pull down handle has been replaced twice - they break.

Driver info center module that provides compass direction, temp and mileage data replaced.

Seat belt warning lights repaired.

Driver power seat motor replaced.

Service Engine monitoring light in dash comes on and off and no fix found.

General Comments:

Vehicle drives well, but it underpowered - difficult to handle steep grades on the interstate mountain routes.

Good gas mileage - 19/26.

2000 Pontiac Montana 3.4L V6 from North America

Summary:

This van is great it handles well and has lots of engine power

Faults:

This van is great for long road trips and I have had great mileage from it.

The only bad things that have been gone bad with this is a starter replacement, plastic moulding started to warp a bit, the engine idles weird at times. It has been idling at 2200RPM when it should be idling at 600RPM. The air bag light has been going on and off at times and the front passenger seat belt is beginning to be a bit frayed.

General Comments:

As I said this van is great. The radio sounds fine and the seats are comfortable. I do not have any other comments about it. I have been on a 10 hour drive and did not feel back pain after reaching my destination.

If you turn off the engine, does the idle reset to normal. If it does not, you may have to replace the computer.

2000 Pontiac Montana Ext Van 3.4 V6 from North America

Summary:

Good all around van for hauling kids and stuff!

Faults:

New passenger side mirror at 22k.

Premature tire wear at 33k (general tires are terrible). Not covered in anyway and came out of my pocket. I replaced them with Cooper Cobra GT's and just love them. It rides and drives MUCH better.

Driver's side electric window motor replaced under warranty at 30k.

Oil seeping from rear main. Dealer said it was normal (maybe for GM, but my Explorer had NO leaks at all even at 130k).

Passenger power door was scraping the paint off the lower passenger side of van. Repaired and repainted under warranty at 32k.

Front bumper had paint peeling at about 28k and was repainted under warranty.

Now having a long cranking problem at startup.

General Comments:

We do really like the van. It is not on the road everyday. We have 3 vehicles so it is just used for long trips.

Front seats are very comfortable, but the back ones are not much. Kids don't complain about them yet. We have the standard 7 seats, not the middle captain chairs.

It is a very pretty dark blue with light silver on the bottom. Prettiest van around town.

VERY roomy for hauling stuff with taking the seats out or folding them up.

2000 Pontiac Montana 3.4 from North America

Summary:

Great van, good costs... family loves it

Faults:

Not a thing. A very reliable car.

General Comments:

Better cup holders would be ideal, but overall this is a great van. Great gas mileage... can go coast to coast in 2 1/2 fill-ups.

I have a question about the Pontiac Montana. We are in the process of buying a 1999 with 62,000 miles on it. Would you recommend buying the extended warrenty? It covers for 2 years and is around $1600. Please reply ASAP. We will be picking the van up next week!

Thank you.
