I bought my 99 Transport new. For the first couple of years it ran well. After that it's been one thing after another.
Tie rod ends I've done twice, plus head gasket, bushings, etc.
In the past year I've put well over $2000 into the thing... and I've learned to live with numerous problems that simply can't be fixed easily or cheaply. I'm sick of taking it in for service only to find the same problems returning days later.
My power window works only on the driver's side.
My power locks no longer work.
My rear windshield wiper can't be fixed.
The springs in the passenger seat are shot, and the seat makes a ton of noise and provides no support whenever someone sits in it.
My passenger sliding door doesn't work unless you literally LIFT it up to open it or push on it from the inside.
The body has rusted badly, and many bolts, clamps, and lines underneath have rusted through and had to be replaced.
I have an oil pan leak (which is very expensive to fix!), a transmission fluid leak and a power steering fluid leak right now.
My ABS light has come on for no reason, often staying on for weeks at a time, yet no service person can figure out why.
Water gets into my rear lights and it often shorts out.
My windshield wipers work only on the fastest setting.
Many of these problems began when the van was 4 - 6 years old and had only 50 - 80,000k or so on it... so it's been an ongoing nightmare and a big expense!

It was sold as the Transport in 1999... I had one too. Same problems reported by everyone else. I would not buy GM, because they do not backup their products.

To the person who commented about the switching of Trans Sport ot Montana... in 97 It was Trans Sport with the Montana pkg if you wanted it. 98 same thing. 99 You could chose to purchase the Trans Sport (typically not a well optioned out, but there are a few exceptions on the road) and the Montana was a separate name plate. 2000 model year it was just the Montana name. I have sold many of these vans (registered car dealer) and I find they are hit and miss vans. Some are great and stay that way for a long time and others are just junk. Hence I give extended warranties on all these types of vans I sell for the customer's sake.
