In the US these were called Aveos. I rented one when my wife and I went to a wedding in Colorado. When we picked the car up at the rental agency, it had less than 100 miles on the clock and yet when we drove to the hotel a few miles away, the red reflector attached to the interior of the driver's side door popped off and fell onto the ground.
There are few, if any cars I've driven that had zero redeeming qualities like this one. It was slow as molasses. It handled really poorly. The interior was cheap and as mentioned, starting to fall apart right away. And despite being a small compact, it didn't even get very good fuel economy.
So yeah - stay away from these things.

I do not suggest buying a Pontiac Wave at all. I bought mine brand new and I have had so many problems and nothing was ever covered by the warranty.
I had the timing belt replaced at 80,000 km and the mechanic put something together wrong and put the timing out and the whole top of the engine, the pistons, the belts, and the head had four cracks in it, which had to be replaced, which took 4 days.
I have had to replace the front wheel bearings almost yearly, replaced the rear axle twice because the rubber keeps coming loose; every Pontiac Wave that we have checked out had the same problem. I contacted GM and no response.
A front end alignment has to be done often because of the rear axle being out of placement along with the tie rods and sway bars have to be replaced every couple of years.
GM does not back up their products or workmanship. No guarantees or warranties are ever covered.
