2002 Renault Laguna Priveledge LX 3.0 Ltr V6 petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Generally the experience has been great!

Faults:

Engine mount plate cracked.

Engine Mounts have perished according to my dealer.

Main engine mount has bowed.

General Comments:

The car has been a joy to own.

The problem of the engine mounts should not be mine, but Renaults.

They are slow to respond to my complaint.

I doubt I will go down this route again.

Will purchase an Australian Manufactured Car next time.

2002 Renault Laguna dynamique 1.9dci from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Save yourself! buy a Honda or a Volkswagen!

Faults:

My laguna is around 50000 miles on the clock and the turbo charger blew, I then later realised in the garage that the acceleration had a mind of it's own and could have propelled me into a crash...!

After forking out for this one I WILL get rid of it, this is the second laguna to break down under no viable circumstance and I am positive that I will never buy a Laguna again!

General Comments:

Piece of dung, okay interior, uncomfortable ride.

Terrible reliability, you might think it's a good car when new, but believe me things get a LOT worse past the 50K mark.

AVOID LIKE MAD!!

2002 Renault Laguna Prestige 1.8 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Reliable, comfortable and economical

Faults:

Seized rear brake caliper at 96000 miles.

General Comments:

Renault Laguna 1.8 Prestige.

I purchased this car new in July 2002 as a company car, I drove over 45,000 miles in the first year with no problems at all apart from vandals dropping a brick onto the roof from a motorway bridge. The finish and equipment on the vehicle were excellent and the vehicle far exceeded the finish and reliability of my previous company Vauxhall Vectra’s and Cavaliers. She has averaged over 38 mpg constantly by regular use of the cruise control and speed limiter and driving within the legal speed limits. I retired from my full time job and have continued to use the vehicle daily on business and pleasure. She has proved most reliable apart from servicing the only other repair needed was to replace one seized rear brake calliper, which was done by my local Dealer who has been most knowledgeable, reliable and efficient, the car always completed at the stated time. The vehicle has never missed a service and has now completed 107,000 miles with no further problems. (This really is the answer to constant reliability of a vehicle and missing them is false economy in my experience)

I have now traded her in for a new Dynamique Diesel 1.9 and hope to achieve the same motoring standards I have come to find with Renault cars (My wife has a Renault Megane Coupe and my two daughters each have a Renault Scenic.

General Comments:

Nice to drive, but feel let down by reliability, now have no confidence in car reliabilty.

2002 Renault Laguna 1.9 dci dynamique 1.9 dci from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Underwhelmed

Faults:

Inter cooler failed (replaced under warranty) lighting on instrument panel failed (replaced under warranty)

Driver's seat squeaking-repaired 3 times!

Bottom ball joints both needed replacing along with rear suspension bushes.

Various dashboard squeaks and rattles.

General Comments:

A well designed car let down by poor materials, shoddy workmanship, and dodgy electrics.

The suspension problems show a lack of development on badly surfaced roads (Renault, it's about time you came and tested your cars on northern Irish roads!)
