2000 Renault Scenic RXE 2.0 16v from UK and Ireland
Summary:
Looking for a nice car? Pick this one!
Faults:
Read disc pads wear faster than the front ones, a new set every 10k miles despite me driving easy on the brakes.
Funny squeak from the alternator belt when cold, but fixed at the dealer at no cost. I'm surprised that they gave me an excelllent service and apologized for the dirt I found on the floor, I know they didn't drive the car because it had the same mileage.
Dark blue paint is hard to keep clean, I wish I bought the grey one. :-(
General Comments:
Excellent car all year round.
Average fuel consumption when driven normally, if you go easy on the pedal you can get 30 or 35 mpg.
Seats are excellent, I do not know why people complain about soft seats, mine are very firm.
Lighting is awesome, better than most cars.
It heats up fast so the heater goes warm after the first mile of driving and still it doesn't overheat in summer time, a problem I had with my previous Jeep.
Went through the MOT with flying colours.
Engine is silent and capable.
Gearbox changes are average, just remember to change the gearbox oil frequently to help the gearbox last longer, a known problem that has an easy solution: A bigger oil cooler for the gearbox.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have to agree with your comment on Renault dealers and their attitude.
They appear clueless, allied with the inability to return ANY of your telephone calls.
I have an on going issue with a faulty rear washer, I had dropped by my local dealer last week 30/12/02 to find why it's taking so long, it now stands at 8 weeks.
(it's quicker than phoning - as described they don't return calls!) - I was assured that I would contacted... and here I am writing this one week later!
I'm pulling my hair out... i completely sympathize with your plight.
