My dad had a 2300 back in 1987, I was only a kid then, I'm now 30 and I own two of them. Both of them are 2600 vdp, one of them is being restored at the moment, tho other I drive as much as I can. The only problem I have had with them is rust, but they were rusty when I bought them. There have been no other faults at all. Very reliable indeed. If rover were to reproduce them without changing anything, I would be first in line. I prefere to drive the SD1 then my 800. Though people say the SD1 was rubbish, how many other 70's and 80's cars do you see on the road... not many!!!
Keep em running... Lee.

These cars are absolutely stunning to look at. The styling is timeless. I remember being a kid when they came out in the seventies & being absolutely gobsmacked by the shape. The amazing thing is, the shape is still up to date, but it's far more dazzling & glamourous than any current car I can think of. Their road presence is amazing. I'm a huge fan. Haven't owned one yet, but I'm tempted.

Just got my long awaited SD 1 1986. It is the 2600cc model. Very little rust on it, I took the dash fitting out the other day gave it a good clean, it looks wonderful inside. Cleaned all the internal lights and fittings.
Got the engine clean up, some new parts.
Everywhere I go, people ask about it. What other car would attract such attention.

Good review and makes me all nostalgic!
I owned 4 SD1's throughout the late 80's & early 90's. 2x 2.6 & 2x 3.5 V8 beasties! :-)
Wonderful styling, awesome sound on the V8,woeful reliability on the 2.6 (head gaskets) and very "interesting handling! I loved them though, and would be tempted again..
