2004 Saturn ION 1 from North America

Summary:

The car satisfactory for the sticker price

Faults:

Front passenger side blinker light went out.

Drivers side window crank needed to be replaced.

General Comments:

Great acceleration for a 4-cylinder car.

Great handling, very responsive and easy to control in all weather conditions.

Very economical--great gas mileage.

Since I have owned the car, the noise coming from the suspension has gotten progressively worse- hollow thump coming from the front end.

Needs power locks... when you open the drivers door with the key... all others should unlock as well.

Why did you give this car a bad review?

The Turn Signal problem was a recall...

The window crank is a minor problem...

The noise from your suspension is your stabilizer bar bushings. you can buy them incredibly cheap online and replace them yourself.

2004 Saturn ION 1 from North America

Summary:

Best car around for small families on a budget

Faults:

Nothing wrong. Just took it about 1300 miles from Boston to NYC to D.C.. Surprisingly comfortable on the long ride for an entry level car. Two kids in the car also.

General Comments:

Love this car!! Originally went to Saturn dealership looking for a used 2 or 3 year old Saturn. I found a nice SL with all the power extras etc... But the Saturn sales associate figured out that with the lower interest rate on a new car loan, I could get a brand new Ion for the same monthly payment. Best decision I ever made. The Ion is SO much bigger in all respects from the SL (I owned a 93). Trunk is ENORMOUS! My 93 SL had so little horsepower, I had trouble going up steep hills. No such problem with the Ion. The 140 HP seems to be plenty. I think I may buy a VUE when my horrible Ford Windstar finally kicks the bucket.

A VUE is an excellent choice. I own one and love it! the power train is Honda's Pilot (for the V6 model) with 255 HP and get's good gas mileage for a V6.

2004 Saturn ION Ion 3 Coupre from North America

Summary:

A great car with a lot of extras for the price

Faults:

A week and a half after I had bought the car I heard a popping sound when going over a bump or turning the steering wheel. The dealer had to replace the sway bar end links and bushings. A week after that I heard the popping sound again this time the dealers adjusted the sway bar. At this moment I still continue to hear this sound when hitting a bump or turning the steering wheel.

General Comments:

This is a great car besides the popping sound that is heard. I enjoy the performance of the car and the sporty look of the car.

I feel safe when driving the car and feel good knowing that I am backed by the awesome dealership service you receive from Saturn.

2004 Saturn ION from North America

Summary:

Better than other Saturn cars I've had.

Faults:

I notice a small squeaking sound if I go over bumps.

The gas mileage is worse than even what I was expecting, but not as bad as some other cars.

General Comments:

This car takes off well.

The transmission shifts smoothly. You can't feel it shift like you could with other Saturn cars.

The car handles well around curves.

It looks very sporty.

It seems like you could add additional things to the car to upgrade the appearance.

It's been reliable so far.

It definitely has more room inside the car.

I used to say with my '95 SC1 I had no backseat as it was very uncomfortable unless you were 5 years old, but the Ion has a decent sized back seat. Even a larger person could fit without being too uncomfortable.

2004 Saturn ION 2 2.2L ,DOHC, 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

A lot of vehicle for a little price!

General Comments:

This is a review of a black Ion 2 Sedan with tan interior and power package/cruise control.

Very smooth ride for a car in its class.

I love the small steering wheel and center mounted instrument panel.

I don't know what the complaints with the seat are all about. They are perfectly comfortable and they don't look "cheap" as some people have described them. I find them very nice looking. I guess if you are used to driving a Jaguar or Lexus, they might appear sub-par. But that would be an unfair comparison, which I'm assuming they all have been so far. This is an extremely nice car for its class.

I did notice wind noise on the freeway - sounds like the door isn't shut properly, though that is not the problem. I'm guessing it must be the light build of the vehicle. But you can only hear it if you don't have the radio on and you are sitting in complete silence.

It handles very well on the freeway, though personally it took some getting used to after driving a much heavier truck for two years.

There is a massive amount of trunk space in this vehicle.

I am having lots of fun driving this vehicle around town, especially knowing that it isn't devouring gas like my previous vehicle did.

Having driven a Ford Focus for two years, I can say that the Saturn Ion is an all around better vehicle.
