2003 Saturn VUE 4wd 2.2 from North America

Summary:

A poorly engineered automobile

Faults:

I purchased the Saturn Vue in September of 2003, and began having problems with the wind noise. This was a direct result of the luggage rack. Needless to say, the dealer's only solution was to remove the rack. In the March of 2004, I began to hear a lound whine and vibration when the vehicle accelerated and decelerated. The vehicle is equipped with a VTI transmission. Took the Vue to the dealer and they replaced the belts in the transmission. I drove the car the following day, and the noise is worse and louder. I now have to take the car to the dealership for a second transmission repair. I will now demand a new one.

General Comments:

I am disappointed with the service and quality of the Saturn Vue. I expected a quality automobile, inasmuch as their advertising touts it. Secondly, I thought I would do my part and help the economy and buy American. To my disappointment, the vehicle has been a lemon. I will dispose of the vehicle as soon as I can and buy what I should have purchased - Toyota. I had two of them before my Saturn and Suburban, and never took them once to the dealer for service.

I traded in a 17 year old Honda Accord for my American Saturn Vue. It's been one problem after another. I have had 2 sets of axle nuts, 2 motor mounts (despite being careful over speed bumps& dips) struts and a thermostat in less than 16 months. Much of that time was used to convince the dealership that there was a problem. There is a problem with a short in the radio, but the dealership can't "hear" the problem so it remains. I miss my Honda. It never let me down.

2003 Saturn VUE AWD V6 from North America

Summary:

It's a LEMON and should not be sold

Faults:

Since buying the 2003 V6 AWD Vue just over a year ago, I've had to make over 13 trips to the dealership for the following problems:

Series of loud metal popping sounds coming from underneath the truck when idle, that remains a mystery to resolve by the service department.

Replacement of wheel bearings (2 times).

Shaking caused by binding/grinding rear differential... replaced drive module.

Heated seats internally shorting and heating element replaced (replaced 2 times, and 6 visits for this problem alone, as each time they claimed the seat was fixed, it was not... a common problem was the service department was not competent to diagnose the problem properly as well).

Right and left washer spray nozzle broken & replaced separately within a span of 1 week apart during the dead of winter.

Replaced squeaky gas pedal 2x.

Faulty fuel gauge caused by corroded parts. Replaced 2x.

General Comments:

I am so regretting my Saturn purchase, and will never again buy a GM car. I can't believe the type of lemons Saturn produces, as it sounds like the problems I'm experiencing are experienced by others as well.

I bought a used 2004 Saturn Vue after owning Toyotas. I decided to try american cars; what a mistake. I will never buy an american car in my life.

I purchased a 2003 Saturn Vue new. It has been the worst car I have ever owned and I have had many, new, used, demos. Never would buy a GM again. All wheel bearings replaced, tires before 5000 miles, brakes rotors 8000 miles.

Transmission slips, will not fix, cannot duplicate.

Rear sway bars broke twice, front sway bars broke 3 times replaced.

Wheel bearing sensor replaced, heater sensor replaced, oil pan leaks.

Can you believe this, my brake pedal had to be greased at $80.00.

Oil plug replaced, oil filter housing replaced, rear cigar lighter quit working.

Car refused to start a month after purchase. Had to have a tow truck come out to repair.

Paid last payment of 320.00 and had to through 2000.00 behind that to keep it on the road.

This car is driven in town mostly, no off road, no teenagers, wife takes kid to school.

GM, it's not the first 30-60 days, it is the long haul for what a customer wants in a vehicle.
