It makes you want to drive it fast and find its limits.

2002 Seat Ibiza Chill 1.4 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A reliable sporty looking car

Faults:

Nothing yet, everything worked from the start.

General Comments:

Excellent Car for the money.

Electric Windows, Remote central Locking, Power Steering all the extras, including Alloy Wheels and Climate Control.

The Central Console shows really shows off the car especially at night when the information screen lights up red.

Really good car I have no complaints at all.

2002 Seat Ibiza cupra 1.8 turbo from UK and Ireland

Summary:

VW/Audi quality and performance at a sensible price

Faults:

Cassette didn't work on delivery.

Tailgate lock trim broke soon after delivery.

One headlight was badly scratched on delivery.

General Comments:

It feels like a car from a higher class.

It has a huge amount of standard equipment.

It has fantastic performance when needed, but can be very docile if necessary.

It looks fantastic, turns heads all the time, and there are not many other Cupras on the road.

All my mates are envious of it.

The seats lack lumbar support on a long journey.

The air conditioning takes a long time to cool down the interior when starting up on a hot day.

The boot is not very big and struggles to take some fairly small loads.

Good comment.

2002 Seat Ibiza Sport 1.4 16v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Begs for a good trashing and doesn't complain afterwards, great car

Faults:

There seems to be an intermittent squeak that comes from somewhere in the region of the drivers seat. When I notice it, turn the volume of my CD player down, it goes. Very odd!

General Comments:

This model comes with TCS (Traction Control System) as standard, but I can't seem to actually use it, with TCS off, going round a reasonably tight bend at 80 mph and the car sticks to the road like I'm parking it.

Putting your foot down results in nothing much happening until about 4500 revs is reached, then the car springs into life and tears away.

The car begs to be given a good thrashing, self-control is a must if you want to own this car and keep your license.

2002 Seat Ibiza SE 1.4 16v petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

An absolute beast

Faults:

Within 700 miles the driver's side door pin started to catch on the door trim when the car was locked.

Dashboard illumination started to flicker on and off after 750 - 800 miles.

Engine management / check light came on after 850 or so miles.

General Comments:

The driver door pin problem was rectified by Seat free of charge.

The engine management light turned itself off after about two days of driving - we suspect it only ever came on as a result of sitting behind a filthy old Ford Escort van, sucking in dirty exhaust air.

The dash lights have been difficult to repair - the fault doesn't happen all the time and Seat have been unable to replicate the problem - thus this is the only outstanding thing still not fixed.

Handling is spot on, although the steering is a little over-light at low speeds.

The engine is returning about 45 miles per gallon, but needs to be revved hard to get decent performance. It is certainly more lively than the old 60bhp 1.4 I had in my previous Ibiza.
