2002 Skoda Fabia MPi 1.4 from Dominican Republic
Summary:
A very BAD CAR. Don't buy Skoda
Faults:
Since I bought the car I had electric problems, had to replace the ignition at 49,000KM.
Replaced all front bushings, and tune up was made at 49,000KM up to 500 dollars. Car stayed in the shop about 3 days. Since they do not know what really was the problem.
Front powered windows don't work fine, squeaking noise is produced when its used. Still bad.
Muffler broke at 52,000KM - $50.
Ignition replaced again, same electric problem at 53,000KM. This time the car spent more than 7 days in the shop, since this time they were clueless about the car's problem. This time the bill was for $700.
Squeaking noise comes from the dashboard and from the trunk.
General Comments:
The car is not as that good as people say, the engine runs badly, and fuel consumption is high for its class.
I don't recommend it.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

The streets of Dominican Republic are a death sentence for any kind of car suspension, and I think your problem is not with the car, it's with the dealer. The dealer has a very bad service and low budget technicians. I own a 2002 Fabia 1.4mpi, I don't have major complaints about this car, I have 17" wheels, and I`m still getting 42-38 kmpg on city! (with a premium gas of 73 octane)
The engine has very cheap maintenance; only an oil change once in a while, and that`s it.
