2021 Skoda Scala TSi SE 1.5 petrol from UK and Ireland
Summary:
Smart, modern and solid. A great car
Faults:
Servicing plus consumables, no major issues.
General Comments:
Punchy, economical, comfortable, cheap as it gets to buy and run a modern car... what more could you want.
If you just want a good deal on basic transport, this car is for you. I am old and do not care about all the smart phone mobile connectivity features, but they are there for those who do.
Surprisingly this car is fun to drive. It is dull to look at in grey - a typical modern looking hatchback, but it more than makes up for it in driving ability and interior comfort. This car is fast and still manages 40 mpg or more. These modern turbo charged petrol engines have come a long way. I see no reason to ever switch to electric or even go back to diesel.
If I have any complaints, they are minor - not as spacious as you might think. It is kind of dull if it wasn't so fun to drive and has the right engine (1.5 TSi, heard other units are not quite as good). Skoda main dealer has been OK with me but a bit pricey for servicing. As the car ages I'll likely go elsewhere to a trusted independent garage for service and repair to keep costs down.
However I have enjoyed all my time with this car, something which surprised me in my older age - that modern motoring can still be affordable and fun. The Scala is nothing special, but if you just want a decent modern car, this is a good choice.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
