Faults:

Mostly wear and tear items, no major problems. Bit of rust on rear boot lip and arch, will clean it up when I get a chance.

Keep it serviced, change oil and belts as required.

The air con stopped working long ago and the bonnet release catch failed.

General Comments:

2008 Superb - last of the older shaped cars. Great looking, looks like a big VW Passat.

Older generation 2.0 TDi does not have great performance or economy, it was not till later on these engines got better. Still, mine is decent enough to drive and keeps up with traffic no problem, but not a fast car. Do not expect 50 mpg out of it - 45 mpg is more likely on average.

Elegance model is near range topper, electric everything, very comfortable seats, lots and lots of room, especially for rear passengers. Luxury at a fraction of the cost.

Not anything special to drive.

Overall a great big car for the money; had it a long time and hope to keep it many years more.

Faults:

New cambelt, plus water pump. The car was bought used, but has had every service according to the history logs.

New shocks at front, also new brakes. Drop links also renewed at last MOT inspection.

Air con a bit weak. Front arches have some minor rust.

General Comments:

A stunningly big comfortable car for the cash. Superb even in its most basic form "S" model, still has plenty of electric features and quality materials.

Space is incredibly generous. I can recline the seats and rear passengers still have room.

Good looking car in my opinion, this is one of the first of the newer shape cars for 2008.

OK to drive, not fast by any means, but economical for its size, I regularly get a solid 50 mpg. These old 1.9 TDi units are the best - I believe the complaints about reliability come from the more modern units. Mine has given me no major issues so far and I have had this car 4 years.

Like any car these days parts and repairs are expensive, so as economical as this car is, be careful when buying used be very picky and walk away from rough examples or ex taxis; go for genuine low mileage looked after cars and you should be OK.

I have not experienced anything wrong with this car.

General Comments:

The car is simply superb and I can write it gives more than I even expected. It is much more comfortable and quiet in comparison with Octavia II which uses similar chassis but shorter wheel base. I have tested some A4 and A6 and BMW3 and BMW5) but the space available in Superb's cabin and boot beats them all. The comfort level is almost the same even if the price is much lower.

I am enjoying the twin-door system which makes this car even more useful. Adaptive head lights became a habit after first evening in the car.

The only very minor note is dedicated to the electrical seat control. The placement of the controls could be enhanced as I am slightly touching them sometime by the left leg when leaving the car which requires small readjustment before the next drive.

If it will be reliable as my former Octavia II (no fault except the light bulb within 120000 km) I will consider to buy another next time.
