2009 Skoda Superb SE DSG 2.0 TDi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Best value for money large saloon

Faults:

Electric mirror switch stopped working.

Oil leak.

Mechanical wear and tear that you would have with any car - brakes, suspension, exhaust and so on.

Cam-belt and water pump are well worth replacing if keeping these cars beyond 100,000 miles.

General Comments:

Love my 2009 Superb. Bright silver, huge car, incredible road presence.

2.0 TDi is quick and economical even with the automatic DSG box. The car is very nice and smooth to drive.

I am six foot tall and even when I get the driver's seat to my most comfortable position, rear passengers can still also stretch out fully. SE model is mid range, but the car still has plenty of kit.

This is the first of the newer shape cars that came along in 2009. You can get them very cheap now and they are well worth it, better than most cars in this class (for the money).

2009 Skoda Superb Elegance 2.0 TDi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Nice cheap limo

Faults:

Exhaust, battery, suspension, EGR valve, cam-belt, etc.

ABS light came on.

Glove box broke.

Interior holding up OK otherwise, but the exterior paint and finish is starting to look tired. But it is 14 years old now.

General Comments:

The Superb is a fantastically large and comfortable car for the money.

Plenty of room, rear passengers will never complain about space or comfort.

Elegance model is the one to have, lots of equipment.

2.0 TDi is OK, performance is fine and does a solid 50 mpg. Not bad to drive, nothing special, but not too exciting either and never bad. Can be a pain to park due to its size if you are parking in town.

It's really the perfect family or executive car for those on a budget. Repairs can be expensive though, and only buy one with full history, avoid tatty examples.

2009 Skoda Superb Elegance 2.0 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Really like this car

Faults:

I have had it a few years and replaced only the front wheel bearings. Tyres and brake pads are due soon. Last owner did the cambelt. It is a looked after car with every service. There is something in the history about ABS sensors being replaced, but pretty much every modern car will need those done at some point.

Inside the leather is starting to wear, especially on the drivers seat. Outside there is no signs of rust whatsoever, excellent for its age.

General Comments:

Bought used a few years ago, you will find the Superb hard to beat if you want a luxury car for as little as possible. They really are as good as people say.

Elegance model is very close to top of range, the car has everything. Heated leather seats, electrics all round, etc etc. The interior is the best thing about this car, so much space back and front. All materials feel top quality. As mentioned above, the leather is only starting to wear, but at 13 years old and higher mileage, I think this is acceptable.

Get the 2.0 TDi. Fast and does close to 50 mpg. The 1.6 TDi or "green-line" models say they can get 60 mpg + which is stunning for a larger car, but I test drove one before I bought this and could not live with the performance - it was far too slow. But the 2.0 will do most drivers just fine.

I think it is a great looking car, mine is black outside with black leather inside. My neighbor has a white one with beige leather, stunning also but obviously much harder to keep clean!

2009 Skoda Superb SE 2.0 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Affordable comfort

Faults:

Services plus consumables, no major issues worth mentioning. ABS sensors came on at last MOT so had to fix that, about £150, no big deal.

General Comments:

A great car if you want cheap luxury. Superb is like a stretched Octavia with more refinement.

2.0 TDi is cheap enough to tax and insure while doing 45 - 50 mpg. Power is respectable as well for such a big heavy car. Avoid the 1.6 TDi unless economy is a must - it is far too slow.

Roomy, comfortable, economical car, almost as popular as the Octavia as a taxi, so makes perfect sense as a personal car as well, highly recommend.
