2012 Skoda Superb SE Greenline II Estate 1.6 TDi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Dull, but worth it!

Faults:

Nothing much in my short one and a half year ownership. The car has high mileage, but clearly has been looked after well with all oil changes and belt changes where applicable; the only issues I have had is the ABS light flickers on and off, probably just a sensor issue and should not be too much to fix.

Cosmetically the car is in great shape inside and out for its age. The rear load cover is broke however. No big deal, I can get the part off eBay if I really want.

Air con is also a bit weak.

Creak from the rear suspension - will get it checked out soon.

General Comments:

A fantastically huge car for the money. This Superb is in great shape and I got a great deal due to high mileage. Probably been a taxi at some point, but this car has been looked after well.

White estate model with alloy wheels, good looking for what it is.

Interior has soo much space and electrics to play with it is almost unbelievable. The car fits four adults or more in perfect comfort. It is the ideal long distance cruiser. For a 2012 car, it feels as good as new inside. The touch screen is a little dated however.

To drive this is this car's only negative - it is very dull. Steering is pretty lifeless. Suspension soaks up bumps in the road well, but feels too soft. The 1.6 TDi diesel engine is economical, but a little noisy and rough. And very, very slow (0-60 mph in 12 seconds??) But on the plus side, I am getting a genuine 50 + miles per gallon, cheap road tax (at time of writing!) and insurance and repairs + servicing have been reasonable.

If you are after a big family car, a looked after Superb is a great choice.

I had a 2012 Octavia from new, and had a flickering ABS light, it was traced to rust build-up on the surface of the rear brake discs. Check that isn't what's happening on your car. We were told to solve the problem by doing some heavy braking first thing each day to clear the surface rust off. Worked more or less, but ended up having the rear discs replaced under warranty after 2 years.

2012 Skoda Superb SE Greenline 1.6 TDi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A good all round car

Faults:

Wheel bearings, small oil leak, boot catch, alarm, and some cosmetic imperfections.

General Comments:

Huge Skoda Superb has plenty of space and comfort for the money.

These are popular as taxis in my area and it is easy to see whey.

SE Greenline spec offers good options and economy. The interior is very comfortable and the car is nice to drive (not quite as fun as my old Accord however). Rear passengers always comment about how much space there is.

1.6 TDi is by no means fast, but with over 50 mpg regularly, who is complaining.

Quite good looking and modern still for a 2012 vehicle.

If you want economy, comfort and space, check out the Superb.

2012 Skoda Superb Elegance 2.0 TDi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Luxury for less!

Faults:

Front shocks and springs, wheel bearing, and a couple of sensor faults.

I try to look after it well, recently done the cambelt and water pump, expensive but worth it.

Had it a good few years now with no major issues. Cosmetically looking a bit rough inside and out, but it is over ten years old now.

General Comments:

A great used buy, the Superb is a large luxury saloon. Probably one of the nicest cars I have ever had.

DSG auto box is a joy to use, but you will pay for that with less economy. I barely get around 48 mpg. A lot of reviews here and elsewhere claim to be getting over 50 mpg regularly, but they must be with manual transmission only. Either way the 2.0 TDi is well matched, with decent power and economy in any configuration.

Elegance model has the lot. Heated leather seats and electric everything. Very comfortable and plenty of space. Black interior with light blue exterior, nice combination.

Worth a look if you want a big comfy car for as little as possible. Be aware, although it is generally economical and cheaper to buy than rival luxury cars, maintenance can be a little pricey, but worth the upkeep for long term ownership and reliability.
